Tucker's 16 week checkup

He is a whopping 5 pounds already!! I do believe we have a teapot on our hands. He isnt fat just solid, I can still feel his ribs and I though he was on the skinny side, he is still really short so Im wondering if that has anything to do with why he weighs so much. He already weighs more than both his parents do. Oh well more to love
He did great, didnt like being away from me though when the vet tech was helping the vet. He is definitly a momma's boy. The vet checked his hernia and said that it seems to be smaller but it still needs to be closed, his ears looked alot better and she said that he looked so much healthier then the first time he was there. He had his 2nd set of shots, (I no we are behind) and his rabies and we scheduled his surgeries in 3 weeks (neutering and hernia).
She wants him off the "taste of the wild" food that he is on. She said that he really should be on a puppy food. She suggested Pedigree but at least she didnt suggest science diet. Anyways so we are now in the search for another different food. He is a little sore in the vax area but other than that he is his normal happy Tucker self.

So glad he's doing so well ! Your vet suggested Pedigree ??? Wow...glad that you know better. TOTW is a good food and 32% protein, which is just fine. If he is doing well on it, I'd keep him on it (if it were me). What is her issue w/ TOTW?

If you compare the actual analysis listed on dog foods vs. puppy foods, the differences are usually marginal, if at all. Maybe you could suggest your vet take a looksie at that ?

When I asked her about his itching, (its only on his sides) she asked me what food I had him on and I told her, she said that because its a realtive new food she didnt trust it yet and then she bluntly told me that he should be on a puppy food and suggested pedigree. They are finally carrying wellness in one of my local feed stores. (one only carries diamond made foods where I get my totw and the other only carried SD) so Im super excited about that, I bought a small bag and will try Tucker on that slowly and see how he does. I always felt alittle quilty that he wasnt on a puppy food even though totw is a life stage food. So maybe I wont feel quitly anymore

Glad he's doing well. There is a list of good and bad food on the site here. You'd just have to do a search on it.
