My friend told me I give Romeo too much protein. He eats kibble and as a treat I give him Wellness Venison treats. She says he should be eating biscuits and the venison provides too much protein. Romeo doesn't like biscuits. I thought the venison was good because it's all natural. Now what? Am I hurting him? He is healthy and a normal weight with lots of energy.

I have never heard of anything like this. Maybe you can search the net and see if anything pops up!!

*sigh* people talking who don't know what they are talking about.. it will drive you nuts

There is NOTHING wrong with a lot of protein for a dog who is healthy. If you think about it- dogs who are fed raw or grainless home cooking (like Layla) basically ALL they are getting is protein and they are ALL very healthy dogs. The only time it is not ok to have large amounts of protein is if you have a dog with liver issues. It sounds like you are doing GREAT by giving him what you are for treats. Just say "thanks" and smile

about well-meaning friends...what are your friend's qualifications and her specific objections? What food are you feeding?

I've had friends tell me my dogs should be on Purina because they heard about it on the radio and that's what they feed their dogs. ROFLMAO.

I try to explain, but Michael somebody on some radio station says to buy it. It's really a losing proposition with somebody who chooses their dog food because of advertising. All you can do is choose wisely for your own dog(s).

thanks! i feel better now. she scared me. i feed him natural choice lamb and rice + venison treats. he is a healthy and happy boy! she doesn't even have a dog. lol..

lol..when people say things about my baby i get very upset. i need to just take advice from my y/t friends.

That food doesn't even have that much protein. The food I give mine has twice that. Does your friend who has no dogs realize that good proteins are the most important thing in a dog's diet (unless it's ill)?

That food isn't very well-rated, but as far as the protein thing goes, I'd just tell her to feed her non-existent dog whatever she wanted to feed it, and go about what I was doing.

this is the only food mr picky will eat I know there is better.
