| ![]() Now I must stop reading the sale ads online I know as it kills me to see so many mix breed puppies being pumped out to feed the needs of our public...but something draws me to keep looking. We have done rescue before and havent done it for close to a year as it can get pretty hectic doing so. Last week I got a call from a friend who knew an elderly couple who could no longer care for a maltese/poodle that they obtained this summer..I agreed to take her in and rehome her for them...easy enough..she is a good girl..spayed, fat and healthy and I have had about 40+ inquiries about her and have widdled it down to a couple people who would like to come and see her this weekend... Now on to the other story. I noticed in the paper a 10 month old shih tzu/yorkie who in the designer world is called a shorkie. Of course the big selling point of this girl was she would be a "great breeder" (your skin can crawl anytime now) well that GOT me...I emailed to find out about this girl and why they were selling her etc...the reasons given were that she has a 2 and 3 year old child and is living in an apartment and is just overwhelmed by her and if I would like to come and see her I was more than welcome...well in a house with 4 dogs at the moment I didnt email back..I talked it over with the hubby who said "NO WAY we cant save them all Dawn". Pixie (her name) then became my screensaver and about a week went by..I was sure at the price she would be picked up quick...I was wrong...yesterday I got an email from the young lady who had her asking if I was still interested...the price dropped dramatically (it was already low at it was) and I said to DH that even if we dont keep her we can find her a great home where she wont become a "breeder" so off we went today much to DH uncertaintly...we found our way to the town where Pixie was living. Up the long rickety stairs to the apartment over a store and out ran little Pixie...she woo woo'd at me and the DH and I picked up her tiny little body...SHE WAS SKIN AND BONES literally!! I passed her over to the hubby to watch his reaction...it wasnt good. I found out that her home was the THIRD home for Pixie in her short 10 months. The two and three year old picked her up and plopped her down about 2 dozen times during my visit while I cringed. I asked was she kind of dog food she was on and her reply was "the cheapest puppy food you can buy" (like that was great news or something) she also had a basket about the length and width of a paper file folder...this was her "bed" which she flipped over night and it became a DOG CRATE!! No word of a lie!! She actually slept in this..although she would never stand up in it...it was nutso!! We quickly scooped her up and took her home..she jumped every time I touched her and then I remembered I had a ziplock with some GOOD dog food in it for emergencies and put some down in a container on the floor of the van..she ate like she hadnt eaten for days..Im sure she hadnt!!! She is suuuuuuuuuuuuuch a cutie...kinda looks like a yorkie but kinda looks like a shih tzu too lol...she loves my two little ones..they run like the wind around the house...she is soooooooooooo happy here...but the by-law in my town allows 2 dogs in my 3 dog household...so adding a 4th might be really asking for trouble..but my gosh she is sweet and I know I will be getting attached to her quickly..in fact I already am and I KNOW that my hubby is too. This will be the hardest "rescue" ever.. I will add pictures of Pixie tomorrow and I will add pics of Daisy the maltese/poodle with this post!! Thanks for listening..if you made it to the end lol.. 1. Miss Daisy..she is a happy girl..best rescue I have ever had!! 2. Miss Daisy again..she is 12 pounds and you kinda see Soleil down there..4 pounds is so tiny compared to 12!! lol Pics of Pixie to come soon!! Dawn |

| ![]() Okay, I breathed... a lot!!!! .... I would have totally flipped out on that woman... Who knows... I really think you are Pixie's Guardian Angel... DEFINITELY... and I KNOW she probably thinks of you like that... She probably thinks you were sent from God to take care of her and love her. *I am starting to cry!!!!* How ppl can be so heartless, and uncaring... What a waste of a human being, I can just imagine what the winners are that gave her to those ppl.... And her letting her kids flop that poor baby down so many times.. She probably had a sick belly all the time.... Poor little thing... I bet she feels so much relief now, and I bet she loves you infinitely. Even if you decide not to keep her, she'll probably always remember your face as the one that changed her life. And isnt that such a great reward? To know that you took such a beautiful creature from God and gave it the life it should have had, and deserved all along.... I'm crying so hard I can't see the screen!!! lol. Just love that baby, which I know you will, give Pixie kisses for me, and get some pictures up so I can see her beautiful baby face.... It was probably a sign that woman contacted you again from God... It was probably saying... "if somebody doesnt do something, this baby will be gone..." I'm so glad you listened to the signs, and to your heart. Daisy is super cute btw!!! Don't wanna leave Daisy out!!! God Bless you and your family, and that baby...

| ![]() Awwwwww you are super sweet!! Believe me I bit my tongue MANY times..ooooooooooooooooh so many times..I just wanted her out of there asap and didnt want to cause anything that would stand in the way of that. This was a very young lady with two small children...Im not sure she was even over 20..so she was VERY ignorant. She truly thought she had done a good job with Pixie. I said "oh her tail is docked" (didnt think it would be because of her being mixed with a shih tzu) and she didnt know that that even meant?? She didnt know the first thing about good dog care, nutrition, or anything for that matter about dogs...I think she was bought on a whim..no research..the basket flipped over on her at night freaked me out more than anything. Right now she wont leave my side...or my lap...she woo woo's at me all the time..I think its a big thank you woo woo lol...I dont think she has even been outside and I dont think she was trained on pee pads..probably went wherever she wanted...ick...she screams outside and cannot walk down stairs yet..she CAN jump on furniture though?? I am not even mixing the crappy puppy food with the nutritious food...I cant even fathom her being on that for another day...so far her stools have been normal and she isnt throwing up the new food...yay!! She is sooo skinny..Ive never felt a dog so skinny before. Luckily whoever she was with at the beginning got her all of her shots and I do have a record of that...if she doesnt start gaining (which I suspect she will) I will have her checked for worms. I cant wait to watch her grow and learn in her new environment...she is a complete joy!! Dawn |
