Maybe one solution would be to send the video to the authorities in Brazil, in hopes of bringing it to their attention and possibly having laws passed to protect animals. I did not mean to say you enjoy watching this abuse, I was very upset and confused as to why you would post this here.

That's the good thing about the internet, you can spread news such as this fast & far very quickly to get the word out. There are many people who know about animal abuse but choose not to hear about it. If you don't hear or see something so horrifically eye opening then nothing gets done about it & Laws are not put into place to protect these poor innocent animals that so many people think it is ok to treat so inhumanly. You have a Choice to click on the video or not. I did not click on it & still have this horrific picture in my mind. This video will Hopefully get the ball rolling to change some laws in Brazil & that's a start.
So know that the word will never get out without seeing & hearing about these tragedies.

I understand others feelings and their choice not to view the video, as it is very graphic and not everyone needs to see evil to know that it exists. I am and will be haunted by what I viewed. But I feel this video was posted by someone who cares and is trying to call attention to the horrific death of a Yorkie in a country where the animal abuse laws are weak at best. If we do not stand up for the rights of a innocent Yorkie then we allow this abuser to get away with a slap on the wrist because the laws there are not strict enough. The powerful thing about the world wide web which YorkieTalk is a part of is that it brings people together to defend the helpless, to fight for a cause and to make a change. Because of the backlash from people in Brazil and around the world the Brazilian governments' views on animal abuse are now being questioned and perhaps changed. I commend the OP for being brave enough to post this and for bringing attention to this tragedy out of love and compassion for this poor little Yorkie.

The title is enough to cause outrage!!
How incredibly heart breaking to think that a human ( and I use that term loosely) would do anything so horrific to ANY living breathing being. Yes, I do know there are people out there (scum of the earth) that do abuse animals as well as children. How very "brave" are they.
I say put them in a room with someone there own size and let them have done to them what they do to little helpless beings and then lets see how brave they are. Maybe that should be the punishment.
I surely hope this "person" gets whats coming to them.

I couldn't watch more than one second or two, that video is so disturbing on so many levels.
I too wondered about the videographer. How could someone just video this awfulness, and not move to stop it? I guess fear for their personal safety, would be a big reason.

To do these actions in front of a child? Mind boggling.

I would never have described myself as a violent person, but the feelings that went through me when I watched those couple of seconds, was horror quickly followed by an anger that shook me.

That woman has no right to have a child in her care! I certainly hope that chld services in that country fully investigate the situation.

[Rev Bras Enferm. 1997 Jul-Sep] - PubMed - NCBI Surely she should not be able to continue caring for the sick after the demonstration of such sadism towards the animal and towards her child. She needs to have her nursing career/certificate/license terminated for the good of all.

I guess I probably also should have said I could not bring myself to watch this video. I have seen victims of all sorts of violent crimes and that has made enough of an impression on me about what ppl are capable of doing. I did not have to see the actual act perpetrated. I really think YouTube shouldn't have allowed it to be posted. It sort of reminded me of when the Faces of Death videos were out. It almost becomes a phenomenon to watch this sort of thing. I understand the OP wants to help the situation and that's why she posted. Hopefully a way can be found to make sure she never practices nursing again.

No one NEEDS to watch this. It should never happen at all in the first place! However, that is exactly why some people SHOULD watch it, because they are unaware and knowing helps them join the cause to end it. I think spreading information is important. Good and bad.

I, for one, had NO CLUE the laws in Brazil were THIS lenient. It is important to spread these dirty secrets of the world. It is what the media is supposed to be about. Uncovering terrible things to the public, so they can do something about it. If we don't know, we can't push change.

Some people remain unaffected by just reading words. It is easy for some people to read a printed story and just go "oh that's very sad" and not think about it any further or do anything to change it. However, chances are, watching a video would make a bigger impact and haunt them for longer, motivating them to actually DO something. Animal rights organizations often use videos to motivate people to join their cause. This is no different.

So thank you, OP, for giving me this knowledge and a cause to fight for. I hope the admin does not silence this important message.

you're welcome. It was never my intention to post this here just to show you all animal cruelty; but all I wanted to do was to show everybody how there are a lot of defenseless animal some other part of the world that no one stands up for. Being born in Brazil, I know the lack of laws about everything in there, specially for animals; all I wanted to do was maybe try to show you in here [ a popular website/forum ] and maybe get international attention so the Brazilian law enforcement could be ashamed and perhaps enforce the law against Animal cruelty. Right now, if this woman gets charge for what she did to that poor dog, all she's going to do is give a monthly food supplies to charity, and that's not fair! She is still working in a hospital and practicing Nursing, she's carrying on with her life like nothing happened, and that's not what we want, we want justice. I understand the video is disturbing, but PETA also shows some disturbing stuff all over the internet, and no one says anything about it... Just saying.

I don't get why is so difficult to you to understand unless you are not reading the posts. They DON'T have laws against animal abusers in Brazil if you do something bad against a animal, you just buy groceries for a charity for an amount of months and that is it! This is the reason why this video became viral throughout the world, everybody wants to press the Brazilian government to CHANGE the law!!!!!!!

We've been asked to remove this thread, and we certainly understand why. I have not viewed the video, but I understand what happened to this innocent creature - and it's beyond words to do it justice. At this moment, I don't feel comfortable making the decision as to whether the video should stay or not.

This tragic, horrific act had better result in changes towards animal cruelty in Brazil - or anywhere/everywhere, for that matter.

But PLEASE, do not view anything (ever) that your gut says you should not view.
