That's why I'm an enforcement advocate more than a legislative one. Animals suffer day in and day out while the newest group or coalition bangs their head on the wall of their legislature. Yes I am so sadden by how little, people really care and it explains to me why nothing changes.

Laws are broken everyday because they know they can get away with breaking the laws. The people HAVE TO STAND UP and speak out..they have to tell the legislative system..I AM SICK OF IT AND I AM NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE...Conflict or in the case of YT, Drama makes people read and start to understand. Maybe the conflict of these organizations will make people wake up and either enforce good laws or change what is on the books.

I have to also say, we have been talking about puppymills on this forum for years and people are acting shocked by Nancy's thread...they should be shocked puppy mills are still going on (especially after Oprah's Show)..they should be shocked at AKC's involvement in volume breeders...they should be asking how they can make changes. They should be reviewing their state laws...There is a ton everyone can do to end the suffering of so many animals.

I feel your frustration and want to validate it. I think this section is one of THE most important ones here, yet it often gets so little attention. I know people are so very passionate about Animal Welfare here at YT, so I often wonder why this section isn't more active. I sometimes wonder how much location has to do w/ it (being way down here)...?

I agree with the above 100%.

Lillymae, Idaho is one of only four states that have no felony animal cruelty laws on the books. Here's a link to something from your state...

Ruling sparks concern over puppy mills: Critics say judge's ruling invites inhumane practices and could have ramifications throughout the country | North America > United States from AllBusiness.com

Hey, Ann..good to see ya' . You could try moving it and that might help. Or not. I notice the off-topic forum is busy and this one is in plain sight of that one. Maybe putting something about this forum in a siggy...

Hey, Nancy...I need help with a cool siggy!

I did see this before but thank you for posting it as there are others on YT from my area that may not have. If you see the contact # in the article lmtrubune= Lewiston morning Tribune, This is where I live Lewiston Idaho. It's the Lewis Clark Valley, Lewiston Idaho and Clarkston Washington. we have had a few mill busts in the last several months in my area as well. I will be contacting the person in the article tomorrow and anyone else I can find to get something going. I also work with our local rescue in the valley so together we will have more strenth. If anyone knows what else I can do please get it to me either here or PM me. I'm still waiting for a PILL cause I feel my chest tightening more and more by the minute over here.

I hope this helps as the Humane Society is a great place for you to contact and be filled in from a state level. They know as they are fighting for the animals everyday. You are not alone and it is important to understand what you can contribute before it harms your health...In rescue it has always been said and I believe it is true.."you can only rescue one at a time" you can't save them all but I think everyone can help at some level that doesn't harm yourself..Besides the animals need you to be around.

Idaho Humane Society

I also use the following website to study the different state laws

Idaho Consolidated Cruelty Laws

Yea I haven't been able in all my years to wrap my mind around the fact that I can't save them all. My personality type doesn't allow for me to give up but it's also what makes me physically ill. Not sure what's worse the ADHD or the OCD. Thanks for the links.

Good luck with that. Every journey begins with the first step. My state, Mississippi, just killed a felony animal cruelty bill for the second year in a row so we, along with Idaho, N. Dakota and S. Dakota are the only states with no felony animal cruelty, no matter how horrible any case may be.

Remember, all politics is local!

If it's local then how do we get federal cruelty laws passed. You don't understand I can't stop there.

I think the federal government is mucking up enough without giving them another job to do badly. These efforts have a better shot at succeeding if done from the bottom up rather than the top down...JMO.

It is great to see people working at getting puppy mills to be gone. It takes a strong person to stand up to them. I am sorry I don't post much about them, I had a very scarry experience from a puppy mill person. The puppy mill people will work just as hard to keep breeding as everyone else is working hard to shut them down. I have had threats from them before.

Well, I'm just crazy enough that I'm not afraid of threats.
Where they calling and stalking you or what ?

I am sorry I can not be very vocal about it. I just know that I sleep good knowing that I do every thing I can to put the puppy mills out of business.
