| We are failures So last year I decided to see if Molli would be a good therapy dog. We went to training classes and she was doing really well. Due to the holidays and my work schedule I was unable to really work with her for a couple months but when they had the test I took her thinking she might remember her training. She passed all the parts except for loose leash walking. She was all excited and pulled. So either we give up now or we go back to training and try again. She did do really well in everything else. I am just not sure if this is a sign she is not cut out for this or if it just means I should have worked with her more. I want her to be happy

2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | You ere not a failure just a busy momma who took it upon herself to try and do good for the sake of others . . . so I agree keep trying, your baby will get it. Maybe wait until you have more time to spend with him or maybe find someone to go to class with you so that they too can train with him on those days when you are not available. I to would love for one of my pups to be able to be a therapy dog but am unsure of which of my three would be best for the job.

| I think you guys did awesome considering you hadn't worked as a team for a bit. Even if your pup can't settle enough now to do loose leash walking doesn't mean a yr of maturing out wont mellow your pup into being a star therapy dog. Good luck |

| It only means you need to work with her on that part more. Dogs retain some things easier than others and need a great deal of work in some areas where they are weak, just as we do when we're cramming for an exam on any subject. You know a normal dog will often pull when excited or over-anxious so she just needs more work in how to control her impulse to pull for which she'll learn with repetition that she'll get the best reward in the world - your heartfelt praise and a tasty treat. It's especially necessary for therapy dogs to have great impulse control so a little more work and she'll get there. Keep working with her and try again when you can. We're pulling for you both.

| I say keep trying! You are not a failure... That is awesome that she did so well, you just need to practice that part.

| thanks for the encouragement guys! I was really proud at how well she did everything else that was asked of her. I think we will try again, I just was feeling so depressed that we failed. I know she would love being a therapy dog she loves people so much. We are going to work on our loose leash walking as soon as it stops being 20degrees out here
