| Finally! Finally! I made Darla a dress, Yaaaaaay!! lol That being said..... I'm not very happy with it . I completely dislike the bodice the pattern had me do.... it's just too much, it doesn't have to be so complicated. So next time I'm going to try to make it much simpler, similar to some of the other dresses I've already bought her. Besides that, there is soooo much more I can change to make it look better..... hopefully. hehe My hubby convinced me to put on the lace and even though I agree it helps to complete the look, I had no idea how to use it and kinda just threw it in there. So I'm sure I did something wrong there. But here it is! Changes I would like to make for next time; I would make the bodice much simpler, I would also make the bodice longer, oh and learn how to sew better hehe Please any advice would be greatly appreciated. P.S. I kinda just super quick sewed the velcro on. My son was going to wake up from his nap and I had to hurry and pick everything up before he became super curious about all the pretty shiny things. (needles, scissors, pins) P.S.S. Even though its not the best out there, or very well made, my boys looooved it. hehe They said Darla looks gorgeous. P.S.S.S. hehe sorry but please don't mind Darla's hair. She was outside with my son getting a dirt bath not long before the pictures.

| Wow! I think it's absolutely adorable! Of course I'm a sucker for anything with eyelet lace on it, lol. No but really, it's very cute. The lace really makes the daisies stand out. You did good!

| Thanks Kathy. I think I'm going to try the same bodice a couple more times, make the adjustments needed, and see how I like it then. I think I just need to give it a chance. And I also am a sucker for eyelet fabric. I have 4 different strands of it waiting for future projects. hehe

| I think you did a great job. Darla looks great. I agree on the bodice being complicated. Try using a harness pattern for the bodice. That front piece messed me up. |

| Thank you everyone! After going over my thoughts on how it looks and what needed to be changed with my husband, I've decided to give the same bodice another try. I like how it looks from the front. I'm still going to look for other ways of going about it, but I would like to make her dresses with a chest piece, or with them covering her chest. I'm hoping to make another dress tomorrow, but who knows. My boys have half days for the remainder of the week and then they are off on spring break, then the week after that we are taking them on their "Surprise We Are Going To Disneyland!" trip that will lead up to AZ for Easter and my Dad's 60th B-Day surprise party, and then back home to start up with school again. I'm getting tired thinking about all that I have coming up, but I know we will have a blast. I am hoping to bust out another 3 dresses before our trip though. I want my Darling little Darla to look fabulous on our little family get away =P

| Oh...I think it's beautiful! Love the fabric, it looks so springtime and you did a great job It's so pretty on Darla! That's the pattern I want to learn to make. I've read and read it, somewhere along the line I keep getting lost, hehe. Maybe it will go better when I actually have time for hands one...if ever

| I think its very cute love fabric and the eyelet lace. i did not use the bottom piece and used the next size up for the top and used only that piece for my top of the dress cause i didnt like how it came underneath like that it was too much fabric and velcro. happy tweaking! good job.

| We're all our own worst critics! You did a great job on Darlas dress. I read somewhere that what we call mess ups are really just creative juices flowing. In my case that means I'm a creative wiz! Add & subtract- heck redo the whole pattern!- but remember it's called a pattern(suggestion) so make it your own one of a kind creation made especially for your beautiful Darla! |
