| I love the fabric you chose! I don't know anything about sewing, so your dress looks great to me

2. Turn in seam allowances on ends of Band 8, press. The seam allowances are 1/2 inch (see fabric key to the left of the sewing directions). Just fold over the fabric 1/2 inch and press it with your iron. This will hold it in position until you sew it. IMG_0765.JPG I checked the placement of the band by positioning it under the pattern (forgot to mark the line) IMG_0766.JPG Fold the edges over and match the seam line of the band to the marks on the bodice. (right sides to right sides) IMG_0767.JPG Sew. IMG_0769.JPG Fold the band down and press it.

| Yeah, the pattern instructions get a bit screwed up. Here's what I do to attach the skirt: IMG_0779.JPG IMG_0778-1.JPG IMG_0782.JPG IMG_0789.JPG

| First I remove the basting threads used to ruffled the skirt, Then I just whipstitch the opening closed by hand, add the velcro and bow and done! IMG_0792.JPG IMG_0791.JPG Let me know if you have any questions... ( I think they need to rewrite that pattern, lol) I tried attaching the skirt a few different ways... I like this way best as it seems to hold the bulk of the fabric ruffling more evenly and the whole dress lays better on the dog.

Thank you very much! I have one more to make of this style...lol! If not: That's okay, too. I think Aymee did a fantastic job for her first time. The way this pattern is written...I've read and reread it a hundred times myself... it just stops after saying to attach the skirt...nothing more about it, lol! I've spend more time reading this pattern than I have spent sewing the dresses!

| I tell ya what. All the ones that you think are not good enough, you send them to me lol. I think you did an awesome job. I can not use a machine, I always break it , so I sew everything by hand and I am not that good at it. I will stick to crocheting and now makiing bows lol.

Katie Scarlett's Mommy Donating Member | Kathy! Kathy! KATHY!!! Woman, you are AMAZING!!!!! I cannot begin to tell you how appreciative I am that you took the time to explain that to me! I totally understand now! Your tutorial is the best sewing tutorial I've ever seen! And you know what else I forgot to do...trim the notches on the top part of the dress!!! I know to do that! We learned that in class, I read it in the directions, and I sat there and didn't do it! Silly me! But I just want to give you a BIG HUG!!!!! It just makes my heart smile to see that you took the time to show me this! I cannot wait to get started on the next dress! I have a lot more confidence now and will be printing out your instructions to use to follow along as I go. I went to the store today and got some more goodies. I hope to sew this weekend. Girl, thank you SOOOO much!!!! I cannot say that enough! And Kathy...would you please PM me your snail mail address. I would like to send you a little 'thank you' card and a surprise! Ahhh! I'm so excited now!!!!!

| I think you did a great job for your 1st try! The members here who sew always go out of their way to help-isn't it great? Just wanted to add this (maybe it will help) I watch yard sales and thrift stores for sheets or fabric pieces to keep on hand, that way when I'm using a pattern for the 1st time I can do a trial run first. |

Question Kathy...if I trace the top part of one of her current dresses to try that, do I add 1/2 inch onto it for the seam allowance? I think that is right??? Also, can I trace it onto plain copy paper or do I need something else? Wax paper? Thanks gf! We need to start paying you for all of your help!

I used a scrap of the pattern that I had cut off and pieced an extension onto the bodice pattern piece with tape. Just make one side longer in the front to overlap and attach the velcro, I think I added about 2 inches (my girls are bigger, lol) plus the seam allowance. For the girth, I used the piece for the under part and pinned it to the bodice, then just folded it till it looked like a straight band instead of the 'T' shape. You can either cut two pieces and sew them together, or just cut it out as one piece, but remember to do the same thing for the lining. You can always cut it a tad bigger then size it by holding it on her to be sure it's the extensions are long enough...if she'll sit still for 2 seconds, lol. I carefully pin the front and slip it over their heads, then check the girth piece for size. (Let me know if this is clear...)
