Hello All. My name is Leah and I am new to this site. I am extremely interested and determined to find a teacup female Yorkie puppy. I live in New Jersey and I have been searching high and low in the classifieds and online for a puppy, and so far, no luck! I'm also not looking to spend thousands either. I would like a reasonably priced puppy that is healthy, has papers, and comes from a respectable place/person. I am young and would LOVE to bring this pup EVERYWHERE with me!!!! So if anyone knows of breeders in the NJ, NY, PA, or MD areas, please let me know. I am willing to travel for pick up because I do not like the idea of shipping dogs.

OK you sound very responsible but there's one thing you have to know. there isn't such a thing as a teacup yorkie, it is simply a term for brokers to make more money. and i think i heard somewhere that you want to stay away from western (i think) PA. (no offense anyone who lives there) its a puppy mill place. you don't want to get a yorkie any younger than 8 weeks and might want to wait until 12 wks because that is when any health probs. they might have will appear. You might also want to go for a yorkie that will be 5-8 lbs full grown or so. smaller ones are prone to desiese. it is also a lot harder to step on a "bigger" yorkie. (this has killed and seriously injured a lot of even larger yorkies on this site.) so good luck with your search and welcome to the YT family.

Megan is correct in everything she said..and a 5lb dog is STILL SMALL..Maximus is 4.5 and he still almost gets stepped on all the time...I am glad he is less fragile then when I first got him and he was only 2 lbs..but he is still VERY tiny he just got taller

When we were there the Friday of Memorial weekend she had 4 pups that she showed us. Two she said would about 12 lbs and two that she said would be under 7lbs. From the YT crew I understand its hard to predict adult weight ( he was 3lbs at 12 weeks ), but little Dublin is so awesome and adorable I couldn't care less what size he ends up.

Also find a thread called NY Breeders that I recently stumbled across. It seems there is a popular store called Quality K9s that quite a few people recommended.

Dear Leah,
I'm not going to give you the 'teacup' lecture, but asking for one makes most reputable breeders crazy- for good reason. I refer you to the YTCA Code of Ethics, which good breeders will adhere to, members or not.
I do have pups available in Eastern PA- you can find the thread posted here. I can't apologize for the price, you get what you pay for. Stacy

good going megan everything you said is correct. leah, first of all welcome to yorkietalk! i would just like to give you some advice, pls look through the forums on this site before you try to get your dog it will make you more confident, and secure that you know everything there is to know about yorkies. i'm not at all saying that your uneducated about this breed because we just met you but from your post, and you saying that you want "TEACUP" yorkie kinda tells me and i'm sure others that you can benefit from this site. and get more info on the breed. i suggest searching the forums using words teacup yorkie and buying a yorkie. hope that you have fun here it is the best site that you can possibly come across, and it's due to all the knowledgable people here(love you guys!!!)

I, too, will avoid the "teacup" lecture but want you to know that there is no such thing as "teacup". How old are you if you don't mind me asking?
I know that you want to take the dog everywhere with you but is that the only reason why you want it?

I had NO IDEA there is NO SUCH THING as a "Teacup Yorkie." The reason I was asking for one was because my friend purchased one and it is such a PEANUT!! So far, you guys have helped me A LOT and I only posted my first thread yesterday!!

Natalie, to answer your question, I am 20 years old. I do not only want a Yorkie to just carry around, but to be a loving companion for my family and I, as well as my Malti-Poo, GiGi.

There are smaller yorkies and that is what you have probably seen. Some people and breeders refer to them as teacup but that is an incorrect term as it is not recognized by the akc.
