| Looking for good breaded in NW Arkansas? I am planning on buying a female yorkie in early Feb. I am looking for a breeder that has a good reputation, and lots of knowledge about yorkies. I have a registered male yorkie already, and I am wanting for find him a companion. I am hoping that they will be able to breed and have little yorkies. I am going to do lots of research before I breed them. But I am needing someone who knows what they are doing to help me get started, and to find a good match for him. Anyone have any ideas?

| What size of female are you looking for? I know a breeder in Omaha, Ar that has larger sizes. I know a breeder in northwest Springfield that has smaller Yorkies. There is also a breeder around Green Forest that has Yorkies. I have bought from all 3 of these. Sylvia |

| Whatever you do, don't buy from a woman named Tammy Hernandez from Arkansas. She also advertises in Oklahoma. She scammed me into believing my Tia would stay 4lbs or less and she is over 6lbs and not even 1 year old yet and she never produced any AKC papers that were promised! |

| Here's some that I found and have talked with about purchasing another Yorkie, but I haven't bought from them....you might already have their info, but if not, they would be worth checking out!! Good luck and please post when/if you found and purchase one. www.stonewallranch.homestead.com - Bentonville www.fantasyyorkies.com - Missouri (north of St. Louis Another (can't remember their website right now, but they are in Winslow called Blackburn Kennels or something....I think their last name was Walters (but you can google it and see what it brings up). and then there is another in Pea Ridge (no website), but send a private message if you would like her phone number. Regarding the size of the female....I was told by numerous breeders and several vets that the female needs to be larger than the male...I do not know if this is standard or not, but that was what I was told.... Hope this helps and good luck!

| WOW ~ what a huge commitment you have made. The responsibility of breeding is so important. Do you know any good breeders personally in near by areas who could help you or offer advise? (even those who are not Yorkie breeders but smaller breed) Possibly have them be your mentor for a couple years or ?? ... This is such a huge step to want to become a breeder. I wish you all the best in your new venture. I don't personally know of any reputable breeders in our area here that I am familiar with, sorry. Good luck finding your female companion for Gizmo.

Ok, I think I assumed that Gizmo was an adult, so I better ask how old he is. What were you wanting to breed for? Pets? Sylvia | |

| I was wrong about Gizmo's weight Ok I was a little wrong about Gizmo's weight, he actually weighs 3 1/2 pounds. I don't know if this makes any difference. Any ideas about what size female I should get? I know that I should get one bigger than him. Any help would be appreciated.

Just curious, I looked online the other day for yorkie pups, and there is a good place around St.loius. They sound really good, and I think you might want to check it out.. There are others as well, but I can't think of them at the moment. When I do I will re-post. Good Luck!

| Heather, what makes you think Gizmo will be 4 1/2-5#? Try to be as sure as you can be about his size and then add about 1/2#, just to be safe. The girl you want should be bigger than him, so if you are pretty sure he won't get bigger than 5 1/2#, look for a female that will be 6-7# fully grown. I'm sure you know there is no size guarantee when it comes to Yorkies, but when I ask what size a dog is going to be, I really want to know the top limit of what the breeder thinks the dog COULD get. I don't want to hear "Oh, he/she should be about 5#," and then have the dog get to 7-8#. I want to hear, "I don't think he/she will reach 7#," or "I'm pretty sure he/she won't reach 7#." I want to know the parents and grandparents sizes if possible. I know there can be throwbacks but I want to minimize my risks of throwbacks as much as possible. I have 2 little girls I will be putting up for sale when I find my digital camera disc and can put the program back on my puter, I think they should be in the 8# range but in being honest as I want someone else to be with me, "I don't think they will reach 10#, but they could cause their father is 11#. I believe he is a throwback and should throw puppies a lot smaller than he." Sylvia |
