Need male stud Go ahead and laugh at me. I sit here with 3 nice males that I use for breeding and I need an outside male for stud service. One of my gals is getting up there in age ( Chelsea Nimar heavy in bloodline). I may have two -three if I push it times left to breed her. All I get out of her is 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 pound adults. Nada that I can keep and show and breed. Any suggestions on where to go to increase the size of my puppies. Mazie weighs 5 1/2 to 5 3/4 pounds. If I don't get something soon the line will die out. She has the topline and is solid- I would like to refine the face a bit- a little shorter nose and more expression. I like some of the Stratford,Durrer, that I have seen. Exmoor and Jo-nel's are close but just don't know. My hubby and the kids refuse to talk to me about it ( they are sick of hearing it day and night) My studs are on strike- cause I won't use one of them and Mazie "states get er done woman time is a wasting". Any suggestions? Wnalegria

Stud I would go with either a Durrer or Exmoor - they both have nice faces, coats and they still have the dead level topline. Call Betty Anne and see what she can do. Have you thought about trying to find one with Mayfair/Yorkboro? T.

Stud I have some Exmoor in my line- and this is just my looking at the picture- I like a brighter gold and a more refined face that I just don't see with the Exmoor. This is just my view. I like to shake the tree- I like to have different lines then the folks who live around me- I think that it shakes the tree a little bit and keeps things fresh. I hate it when every dog that you look at is a clone. I spoke with Nancy Donovan a few months ago when I started searching for another gal for myself. That is why I was considering the Durrer. Nancy mentioned that she and Joan co own some dogs with Betty. Wnalegria

Durrer I was going to only mention the Durrer - They are so nice! But thought I would give you a few options. If it was me - and this is advice without seeing the female or specific stud - I would go with Durrer. I had Chelsea Nimar/Mayfair before - so I know the line. Durrer would make a nice match. T.

stud Do you know Dorothy at Orlean's..she gave me great advise..I was in a box and was thinking too short sighted. She pointed out so many great lines to breed into...that is when I decided on my Durrrer stud and now into another line that compliments mine. Some breeders have a gift and can look at a bitch and pick a stud...9 times out of 10 they can tell you what the pups will look like..saves alot of misses. Best wishes to you in your search.

If this is not the only time you plan to breed your bitch I have a suggestion. First, you can choose a different stud next time if you do not like the puppies from this litter.. That means you will need to place most of the puppies. Be selective!! And, if your bitch is not proven, and the male is, you might want to use a stud close to home. In the event there is no pregnancy, you probably would be offered a free stud service next time and if that were the case, you would not be travelling for the days it takes to assure matings. Just a thought.

| Need male stud Quote:
The other serious problem is my health and if I could drive myself or if I would need someone to take me. I would hate to take off for Canada forget to take my medicine or just have a bad couple of days and end up in Mexico. LOL - My hubby thinks I should just ship her and that is not a consideration in my mind . The other thing that you run into is that some breeders do not have the time of day for you- and then the ones who you think would laugh in your face are the ones who take the time and want to help you. Go figure. There sure is a lot of cattiness out there. It makes me sad that we can be so unkind to each other. It is a laugh when I can get a puppy from a YTCA member who I consider a " Top Show/ Breeder and use one of the studs that they have available but a small hobby/show breeder does not feel that I have the right credentials for one of their puppies or am reliable enough to use one of thier males. Oh well that is what makes the world go round. Thanks, Wnalegria | |

Would frozen semen and AI be an option??? I will be forever grateful for Pat and the kindness she showed to me and continues to do so..It is difficult to find a reputable breeder wo is willing to allow you into their lines..I do send you my wishes for the best of luck with your girl..and finding her a top notch hubby..

Male stud Ai and frozen seamen is a option. I have thought about it quite a bit. The vet and I have talked about the major problem- This gal is older. This may be my last time to breed her. If lucky I may have one more. Bottom line is that I have to look at this being the last just in case I don't have another chance. I would hate to loose the bloodline. I would love to have a female to keep the line going. She tends to throw small females. 4 pounds and under which are not a help in a show/breeding program. Thank you for your thoughts. Wnalegria
