And, if your bitch is not proven, and the male is, you might want to use a stud close to home. In the event there is no pregnancy, you probably would be offered a free stud service next time and if that were the case, you would not be travelling for the days it takes to assure matings. Just a thought.
Thanks for the advice. I have worked myself into a box. There have been years when I did not breed my gals with the Chelsea Nimar lines. They are all old gals like me. If I am lucky I may get two breeding left from Mazie. To be realistic I am having to look at the breeding "as this is it" I may not get another chance. I hate to have the bloodline die as so many of the old ones have. She just tends to have those little itsby bitsy puppies that are darling and she is a good sized gal. I have looked and talked my family and friends to death about who to go with. I also have to look at the cost involved with traveling a great distance during the school year. I still have a fella in high school and I could come back to a shambles leaving him and my husband "HOME ALONE". I don't know anyone who could and would baysit my hubby and son.

The other serious problem is my health and if I could drive myself or if I would need someone to take me. I would hate to take off for Canada forget to take my medicine or just have a bad couple of days and end up in Mexico. LOL - My hubby thinks I should just ship her and that is not a consideration in my mind .

The other thing that you run into is that some breeders do not have the time of day for you- and then the ones who you think would laugh in your face are the ones who take the time and want to help you. Go figure. There sure is a lot of cattiness out there. It makes me sad that we can be so unkind to each other.

It is a laugh when I can get a puppy from a YTCA member who I consider a " Top Show/ Breeder and use one of the studs that they have available but a small hobby/show breeder does not feel that I have the right credentials for one of their puppies or am reliable enough to use one of thier males. Oh well that is what makes the world go round.

Thanks,
