				 | AKC dogs are divided into 7 groups - Toys, Terriers, Sporting, Hound, Herding, Working and Non Sporting. At a show, dogs compete against their own breed. The Best of Breed winners then go on to compete against other Best of Breed winners in their Group. The judge picks a 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place. The numbers behind the name shows how many times a dog has been picked for those placements. |

Ex. Yorkie Best of Breed 20 yorkies show up and are all accounted for Radar wins breed he gets 19 points Toy Group Radar gets a group 1 and there were 295 toys that showed up and were shown Radar would get 295 points and now he would have 314 points Best in Show there are 1195 dogs that showed up and were shown and Radar went Best in Show he would get 1195 points to make a final count in points for that one show 1509. Group 2 would be less than 295 and group three less than group 2 and so on... Breed points are just the number of yorkies that were shown that the dog who went breed beat out... I hope that made sense... Donna Bird Brooklynn's Yorkshire Terriers | |
