| Different lines, way different looks??? I am not sure if I am correct or not but I was just kind of currious... I know that the Ideal yorkie has a certain profile, but aside from that I tend to like the look of some lines better than others, It is not necessarily the color or the length of body or anything in particular that I can pin point. The more I look at the pedigree of a dog that I think is really beautiful the more I find common ancestors. the same thing goes with a dog that is beautiful but not "my type, per say" Does each line have it's own look??? I am just looking to educate myself more.

| Yes different lines can have a distinct look. Breeders will aim for a certain type and over the years develop it quite well. Some dogs like those out of Pastoral are very easy to spot because of their cutsie faces. Some lines have more leg, some run dark, some run light, some have more of a terrier look, some are very small and fine boned, some have more body. One of the most consistent lines around here is Caraneal, I just love Georgette's dogs. I can almost always pick one of her dogs out of a lineup, they are very moderate and well balanced.

| That is called Type I am a head hunter, I want a dog that is very appealing to the eye but of course Health is always first. So when I look for one to show/breed after Health I start at the head. If the head catches my eye then I will start to look at the attitude/structure/temperament/coat/movement (not paticularly in this order), then if all is in place we have a pup to watch. I want it all a complete sound package. You can also notice some breeders have no consistency in their dogs. They have not set any paticular Type in their breeding program. Some will continue on with another breeders line while others will blend several of their favorites to work with to develope their line. Deana Prestigeous Yorkies |

Pastoral and is noted for their gorgeous head, head carriage, and overall balance. I'm a stickler for topline and a bit more leg.....but, I want the whole package...attitude, movement,

| Thankyou so much for all the very infomative replies. I have been so facinated with this lately. The yorkie today even seems to look different from some of the earlier yorkies. I do not show but love to look. i would like to attend some shows this year to further educate myself. Is it hard to choose which dogs to start your line, it seems like a really big and important decision?Your foundation dogs would make a big difference in the over all appearence of what you produce. Thankyou again for being so infomative.
