| I read a thread a couple of weeks ago about coconut oil. It is an organic cold pressed extra virgin oil. I bought the Nutiva brand at our local health food store. Another member had posted she got hers at Walmart in the vitamin section.(our walmart did not have it) I use it right after a bath and boy it does not take much at all. It does make the coat so shiny and my guys have not been itchy since using it. BTW you can also use it to cook with.

| Cain and Able conditioner is a good conditioner. Also check out the new coconut products from Oscar Newman. They aren't conditioners, but oil and treats from coconuts. They are wonder products! |

The organic extra virgin coconut oil will solidy if room temp is below like 74 or 75 degrees. If it is stored in a warm place, it will stay liquid. I give my furbabes a 1/4 to 1/2 tsp a day with their food, coats are better, my older girl (maltese) used to lick her paws a lot and itch. She doesn't any more. I've also mixed it with their shampoo and shampood with it. Never used it as conditioner though. Love this stuff!!!

| You can order both that I mentioned from Paws Around Town over the phone. Here is the toll free number: 1-866-793-9384 They only charge the exact amount for shipping no additonal fees, so its not bad. The CocoTherapy products from Oscar Newman come in either treats (which are flakes and my dog loves them!) and also in the oil. If you rub the oil in between your fingers it liquifies. |

Hi Tammy Thank you so much! I think the c-oil has improved their coats. We've been using it now since early spring. This is what I use, their may be other places that sell the same quality but I've been happy with this thus far: Healthy Buyer's Club - Virgin Coconut Oil Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil - Certified Organic from Tropical Traditions I usually buy the quart jars. Just a warning about starting them on it, you should start with a very small amount, like just an 1/8 tsp every other day until their bodies adjust to it. When I first heard about supplementing with coconut oil, I just gave them all 1/2 tsp with their food and they had diarhea. So I reduced it to 1/8 tsp and worked up to 1/4 to 1/2 over a couple weeks span. They are all under 5 lbs, so the dosage could go up or down depending on the weight. They LOVE the taste, and have taken it right off the measuring spoon but I always poor it over their breakfast

I wish I had secrets, then I could sell them, lol They all were blessed with pretty nice coats to begin with, so I just have to keep them clean and brush them, feed good food, and sprinkle on a little dose of love each day I have to say I have seen the biggest benefit from the coconut oil to my older girl, BitsyRoo who just turned 14 . She is a Maltese with a poor coat, and she had been losing coat and itching and licking her paws constantly. That has totally stopped now and her coat actually looks much nicer and is coming in thicker than it did before. I keep her cut short though, as her hair does not lay flat like a Maltese is supposed to, more of a double coat like a Bichon. Thanks for the nice compliments on the kids Huggles!!
