| Buddy Belt Rubbing Armpits???? Anyone ever seen this?? I kind of noticed about two weeks ago that Jackson's hair seemed to be less in the front, arm-pit-type area... Not the ACTUAL armpit, but more like the front where the harness straps sit if that makes sense. I noticed it before he got his hair cut, so it's not just from being shaved. The attached photo almost makes it look bald but it's definitely NOT fully bald - just definitely less hair, and it's right where the BB sits on him. And he had been wearing the BB pretty much exclusively for the past, oh I'd say 3-4 months, so it would make sense to me. So about two weeks ago, I decided to do a test and stop using it so we've been using our Puppia, I can't tell if it's growing back or not tho.

| ZoE's buddy belt definately breaks her hair off around her shoulders. I've not noticed it so much under her armpits...it just makes it matt a little there. I don't ever leave her in it since I've noticed the breakage. I only put it on when we go out and take it off as soon as we are home.

| Nope - I ALWAYS take it off. But we were going for daily walks in it (about 45 mins - 1 hour) and he was wearing it while running playing frisbee attached to a long line. I'm wondering if it was the running motion.

| Looks like he needs the liner, at least till the leather is broken in really well unless he's just allergic to it. Buddy Belt Dog Harness Liner Accessories

I know at times it is like Riley doesn't want me to put it on him. He'll be all excited to go out then when he sees me with his BB he'll go under the dining room table!! LOL!? | |

| It's just weird, because he doesn't have sensitive skin, or hair problems - at least never has in the past. And he wears leather collars just fine. The harness seems soft enough. I don't really like the way the liners look to be honest... lol, it takes away from the harness IMO (Btw I know I'm changing my avatar, I am in the process of doing it, so ignore me LOL)

| I haven't seen this issue either. Kaji's hair is so fluffy I would notice a big gap in the fluff. He's a puller, and I've noticed this hair loss with nylon harnesses. So far, no issues with the Buddy Belt. I hope you find the cause for Jackson's hair loss.

It does look like where the Buddy Belt sits, but the areas of less hair look larger than the Buddy Belt itself, especially his right leg. Can you take a picture with the harness on? Seems like the harness would have to be moving around to cover a larger area, and that would mean it is not properly fitted. My other concern would be if you used something to treat the leather, if that is causing a reaction -- BB does recommend using a leather protector, but I have never used anything. My hairy monsters haven't lost any hair in their armpits/chests and they pull and I helicopter them in their BBs. Quote:

| Thx Kristin! We never used any kind of leather treatment on it, although I think the place I bought it from did. I am wondering if it's from the running motion, which is maybe why the space where hair is thinner is a bit bigger... Maybe it's not the BB at all but something else, I don't really know. It's not terribly noticeable, and he DOES have short hair to begin with, so maybe it's just the way his hair goes after being cut and I just never noticed it. I looked at some old pics, and I think the hair has always had that 'circular' motion to it (if that makes sense?? lol) but def. looked thicker. (LOL - don't mind the closed eye look)

| I love the closed eyes! LOL, so cute. The harness shouldn't chafe even when running, but some dogs are more sensitive than others. Jackson has had his hair this short before -- so I would think you would notice. Part of it could be the way the hair swirls, as you say -- my guys are that way. When they are on their backs, if I sweep their chest hair one direction, they look like they have nekkid patches that move around depending on which way I sweep. Keep this thread updated as to whether you see changes with continued use of your other harnesses.
