I never stopped to think that a rabies vaccine could be made in China - this is just too scary. How many questions we all need to ask our vets, and our own personal doctors about where the medicine is manufactured

Was this particular vacine for human use? In that case, our dogs should not be in trouble.

Among 360,200 doses of the flawed vaccines for human use, 323,200 had been recovered by Monday afternoon by the manufacturer

Yes, so far it is limited to the human vaccine, but you never know when it comes from China if more recalls are on the way.

I suppose the government is being paid billions by the countries shipping things into our country, so it doesn't make a lot of sense to me why the food and drug adm. can actually be so particular on our own products and yet let anything come in from other countries without a second look. Well yes, it "does" make sense............money, and it looks very much like it's more important than lives.

It's not clear from the article if any of the vaccines has been shipped to countries other than China where it was made. I don't believe our government makes money by allowing things to be shipped here, outside of import tax, or something of that nature. Our government makes way more money from companies who produce things in this country. Stores, on the other hand, in order to stay competitive, often seek out the lowest prices for a product; the same would be true of a company that sells the rabies vaccine to doctors. Just saying we can't blame our government for this. I think a product sold in this country does have to meet our standards.

But they don't regulate the things brought into our country and I don't think that is good. How many times have we found an item that made our pets or humans sick that came from china. And yes, the government makes a lot of money from these countries.

I think they do regulate things from other countries. If you remember, the products made in China were authorized the Mattel Company, and Mattel actually made the mistake of not pointing out that unleaded paint needed to be used. China met all Mattel's specifications, but they weren't thorough enough. Our government had already specified that unleaded paint should be used in all toys. So in that case, Mattel was responsible, however, some people think that any fool would have know you don’t use leaded paint in children's toys, and why didn't China catch that? For me, I feel like until China proves it double checks everything, I don't want to purchase products that could have health risks, but we don't always know when manufacturers from this country import key ingredients from China; and that's scary.
