| Ear and teeth question.... Pip is 6 mo. old now, and about 3 weeks ago, she had a bad bout of enteritus. She was at the Vet's for 5 days on IV, and when I took her in, both ears were up, now they're both down, and show no signs of coming back up. She's fully recovered and happy and bouncy. She's got a double row of baby teeth on the top, so I know they've got to come out. Could those be the reason her ears are not up? I'm going to take her to the groomer's tomorrow and have her ears checked and the backs shaved to take the weight off. I used the Breath Right strips on them but they flopped as soon as the strips came out and they were in her ears for three days. I'll love my baby just as much with her ears down, but she's so doggone cute with them up! Any suggestions? |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Without seeing a pic it would be hard to say what might be causing her ears to fall. During her recent hospital stay was she on meds that would have made her groggy? I know of a situation with a yorkie that had a tooth extraction and one of her ears stayed down after surgery. The hair was too long anyway, and her grogginess allowed the ear to relax and not go back up. After she was groomed and taped for a few days her ear stayed up fine. Hope the grooming helps.

| I'm not sure if they had her on meds that made her groggy. I know they had a bit of trouble getting the diarreha under control. She went in on a Tues, and I wasn't able to take her home til the following Sat. I'm going to take her in to the groomer today and have her shave her ears. I"m pretty sure they're a bit heavy with the hair on them. How long should the ears stay taped? |
