| how do i get a clean urine sample? i took a urine sample to the vet today and they refused it. they said they couldn't use it because it had dirt in it. i used a plastic cup and held it under him and he had mulch on his feet. a little dirt got in it. i looked like an episode of i love lucy out front of petsmart trying to get a urine sample from a little dog. then they used a cathiter (sp) on him and he was completely empty from peeing out front. i felt so bad for him. they said just drop a CLEAN sample off this week. can anyone help me? any good urine sample techniques? |

| Getting urine is so much fun... NOT I tried getting one from one of my girls and I was walking around the yard following her talking in that baby voice go pee pee for mommy. My neighbors probably think im insane. A friend suggested to me to try a ladel (am I spelling that right?). I went to the dollar store and bought one, tried it on Tiffany but every time I stuck something under her she sat down and gave me that Im going to strangle you look. Maybe you will have better luck with a ladel. Ohh I forgot does he use pee pads? You can turn one upside down to the plastic side and gather the pee that way, this way it doesnt soak up

| Will your dog use a pee pad? If so, try putting him on it with the pad turned upside down so that he pees on the plastic. While he's peeing, try to slide an aluminum pie pan underneath him. If you don't get anything in the pie pan, you'll at least have whatever is on the plastic part of the pee pad. You can even take the pad outside if that's where he's used to going. It's better to get it mid-stream if what they want is a clean sample. You can also try taping a cup to a yardstick or some other stick and try sliding it under him as he pees. Good luck!!! |

| I turn over a pee pad and then use a pipette (disposable bulb syringe I use for feeding baby birds - similar to an eye dropper just with better suction) to suck it up and put it in a sterile container. You could probably just pour it into a container with someone's help. |

| I used to baby sit an infant boy that had to give a sample from time to time.. they had me tape this baggie thing that would seal around his penis area to hold the urine. maybe you could rig something like that. or go to the paharmacy and ask about one.
