| New food suggestions? I posted a thread a few weeks back about Emmy being itchy and having dry skin. I've been using oatmeal shampoo on her which seemed to help some, but she still has the dry skin. I noticed her food had the corn gluten(?) and corn meal stuff in it, and some people said that it can cause food allergies. Well this bag of food I have now is almost gone, and I wondered if anyone had any suggestions for a new food so we can see if that is the problem with her dry skin! She is a picky eater, and when I first got her she ate Eukanuba which she HATED. Any suggestions on what your yorkies eat would be GREAT!! Thanks so much! -Ashley & Emmy |

| Bailey did the same thing, I switched to Nutro Lamb and rice, no more itching, I tried the oatmeal shampoo, and even doses of Baby Benodryl, it helped the most with the itching, before I switched foods, No foods with corn.

| I had the same problem with Louie, plus he was a very picky eater so I switched to Merrick canned (they have really great food), and I give them Wysong dry.. The itching stopped and they looked much healthier.....I think they are getting a little bored with it now though which stinks because its kinda tough on their little tummys when you switch their food. Good luck though.

| I am in a similar situation at the moment - nearing the end of a bag of Royal Canin puppy, and finding that Oscar has super itchy, dry skin (corn is one of the first ingredients listed) so I am reluctant to move onto Royal Canin for Adult Yorkies. There are lots of other posts on here regarding food if you do a search. After reading them, I picked up a small bag of Chicken Soup for Adult dogs (no corn and no beet pulp which I've heard can contribute to tear stains - another problem I'm having with Oscar) so when I switch from puppy to adult I'll also be switching brands. I havne't switched yet but this food has gotten rave reviews on Yorkie talk and I think it will help alot with both of my problems. Do a search though, there are lots of opinions on this topic!

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Food Check out all the special varieties of Yorkie food from Royal Canin. I have 6 Yorkies and 1 is very picky and 1 has a very senisitive stomach and all have been doing well on the Royal Canin Yorkie specialty food. You can see them online at www.petfooddirect.com or www.petco.com and see if there is a variety that you think would be good for your baby.

| Thanks for the suggestions! Once I get off work, I'll head over to the pet store and see what I can come up with. Hopefully, Emmy will like it! |

Mitzi was itching and chewing her paws all the time. Last week we switched to Eagle Pack Holistic Lamb and Rice and the itching and chewing paws stopped alomst completely. She is also more playful again. | |

| I went to the pet supermarket last night, and they pointed me to Nutro Ultra. He said I might notice she won't be eating a lot of it because it has lamb, chicken, and salmon in it. But I've mixed it with her old food now twice, and it seems like the new stuff is what is left in the bowl. =( My picky eater hates everything. I'm going to keep weaning her off the old stufff and see if she will eat the new stuff on its own. If not, it's back to the drawing board!! Any of your pups eat the Nutro Ultra? -Ashley & Emmy |

| I tried the canned Nutro when Oscar was going through an extremely picky phase and he wouldn't touch it. Nutro is supposed to be great, but if they wont eat it, doesn't do much good. I definitely recommend their treats though - Oscar goes nuts for them.

| I'm new here to this forum and new to Yorkies. Just adopted a 5yr old male. BUT, from my research i've read that giving red fish aka salmon is a NO-NO. Just a thought before you feed the Nutro ultra. |

| i may have responded to you before, my 12 wk old pup was on eukabena while he was with the breeder, i switched him to nutro for puppies and soak it in hot water, he eats it but i think it makes his breath smell, and he is very itchy as well. im going to try him on pedigree's canned food and see if it does any justice. tell me if your pup shows any progress |
