| Loose Weight Advice Hi everyone! This post is about Ally (will be 10 years old weighs about 12lbs). She needs to loose about 2lbs. She was tested and the vet said her thyroid was borderline out of wack so he prescribed medication for her. She lost some weight with that because she was more playful and full of energy. However, I suspect she was allergic to it because her ears started to get red, inflamed, itchy and she had small pimples in them. I took her off thyroid meds (vet said it was ok) and her ears healed but since then she's gained weight. I have tried cutting back her food in take but she just wines the entire time until I give her more food. I don't know what to do to help her loose the weight. Has anyone on here ever dealt with weightloss? Tips and advice are very much appreciated! |

| Chewie might need to lose a pound or so (which I hope he will once it gets warmer and we go on longer walks) but if I wanted him to lose weight I would trick him with veggies. He likes them (you should see him how he chases my boyfriend when he is eating raw carrots) and they are low in calories, so I guess you could try giving her something like that (carrots, cucumbers...)when she asks for more food. |

| When Magnus was looking little.. chunky, vet said it'd be good for him to lose couple lbs. It was hard to cut back on food for various reasons so I ended up changing food. I used to give both a mix of canned and kibbles (cavalier/wellness). Since switching over to The Honest Kitchen, he's lost 2-3 lbs. Of course, he also gets his daily dose of "exercise". If I'm too tired to take them for a walk, we'll do an "active" form of play where he gets to jump/run around alot. |

| I would substitute higher calorie treats for Cheerios and green beans. (Things like that) my girls would do anything for a green bean frozen or fresh! Get in an extra walk or play time. On average my girls need 150-300 calories a day depending on size. Those calories go fast if you aren't super careful. LOTS of extra calories in "people food" not sure if you do or do not feed any people food.

| Mine love peas, carrots, celery, tomatoes, cucumbers, okra, ....the celery, carrots, and okra I steam until they are softened.....they adore these treats and when one starts to put on extra weight, exercise increases and dog food decreases some and the amount of the decrease in dog food is made up with addition of the veggies....and treats during the day are limited to veggies and no sweet cereals or goldfish crackers. |

| Mickey was needing to lose a couple pounds so I got him food for healthy weight and started to up his exercise. I couldn't cut his food because then he would eat the poop right away. He had never done that! I take him outside in the afternoon to play ball and that combined with his 1 1/2 mile walk in the morning and chasing around the house with a ball that squawks, he has lost 1 pound already. He just needed more exercise.
