| Bad Breath - Teeth Cleaning Didn't Help Poor us, the owners of Little Brandy Madison. She is 5 years old and has always had bad breath. We have tried everything, teeth have been cleaned by the vet, new dog food, dental sticks. Any suggestions would be so appreciated. She loves to give kisses, but it is so hard to receive them

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Hmmm...very odd to have bad breath even after a cleaning...it honestly makes me wonder if the vet missed something bc after my dogs had cleanings, their mouths were/are odorless. I'd be worried something was missed. You could also think about going to an actual Vet Dentist to see if there is something else going on here. You're sure it's not her eye area/drainage you're smelling...which can be very sour/sharp smelling?

| I've had fosters who still had bad breath after a dental. I asked the vet and he said it could be something in their digestive tract, and try to give probiotics. I do give mine greek yogurt, but these fosters were adopted out quite quickly so I don't know if it solved it or not.

| Could there be some food stuck in her mouth? Sometimes when I brush their teeth, there will be a tiny piece of food that gets stuck on the toothbrush. Yuk, it stinks, they eat premade raw food. Bad Breath in Dogs: Causes and Cures

| Did the vet just clean and polish the teeth or were X-rays performed? About 80% of diseased teeth lies below and can only be seen w/ X-rays. I do have one dog that just doesn't have nice breath. It's not "bad" but it's certainly nothing kissable.
