| Food to reduce tear stains? Lulu currently eats Taste of the Wild dry kibble. She has been on this for about 3 years or so. Her tear stains have become a problem. I'm just wondering if there is a food out there that may help reduce this problem.

| I believe it is individual to each dog, which food works best. A longtime member here has posted that her dog has never had tear stains while eating Royal Canin. When she tried another food, he had runny eyes. I've read similar stories related to many other foods. My boys do not have tear stains on Fromm, but a friend has written that her dog had terrible eye boogers when eating it. Some dogs' eyes do better with grains, other do better with grain free. A tear stain problem may have nothing to do with food at all.

| Buster and Maggie have always had tear stains/eye boggers but they have gotten a lot better since I switched them to bottled water. I don't like the water we have so I figure they don't like it either. Maggie hardly has any runny eye problems since I switched her.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I don't think a different food will make a difference, most likely, but you could certainly try. Some people swear by Angel Eyes as changing their dogs' eyes around to being clear. It's a low-grade antibiotic mix w/ Tylosin in it, which is related to erhythromycin.

| Gerber PURE baby water for mixing worked great. Totally got rid of the eye boogers & staining. In Momo's situation, it was his teeth that was bothering him & causing red staining, lots of weepy eyes too. Once he got his teeth cleaned, his eyes stopped watering & the red yeast/ staining disappeared.
