Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Are 'Angel Eyes Tablets' any good? Crystal is 11 months old and has always had tear stains, never resulting in gloup, as I bathe her eyes with warm moist pads daily. The condition prevails and is worse in her right eye and appears to stain wine red. We changed her diet to pure organic wet foods, with vegetables, fresh chicken etc. including an organic probiotic a couple of months ago. I've read one cause could be teething, but that appears to now be over now. We've tried a few eye pads and fluids etc, but with no real effect. Before we visit the Vet. I thought I'd try 'Angel Eyes' tablets and wondered if any one had tried and could recommend the product please? |

| Angel eyes uses an anitbiotic called tylan. Once you stop it, the staining comes back. The red stains are caused by red yeast, the yeast has to be addressed. It can be a number of things, allergies, teething, fleas, tear duct problem or some sort of structural damage to the eye. I would cut off all the hair affected by the red yeast (as it can spread) w/blunt nosed scissors & keep the eyes dry. Constant tearing & wetness is a bacterial ground for yeast to thrive. I use baby terry cloths to wipe their eye area couple of x's a day. Growing the hair between the eyes also helps bc it will not poke the eye & cause tearing. I also noticed that certain food (kibble) will make the staining &/or eye goober worse. I did a food sensitivity test for Turbo & found out that he's intolerant of chicken. If you've been feeding chicken for the most of her life, I suggest switching proteins to something she's never had. Continue w/the probiotics, as that kills the yeast. I've read that it can take up to 6 months for the probiotics to fully work, esp if there were extensive antibiotic usage...so no, angel eyes will not be a good & safe product to use.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Angel eyes isn't a great/awesome product, but nor is it a bad product. The reason I'm ho-hum about it is bc it contains a weak antibiotic called Tylan/Tylosin - it is in the same family as erythromycin (a common antibiotic). While Angel Eyes can definitely help with some tear staining, the issue of giving antibiotics EVERY single day or whatnot is a bit concerning. Because really, you could cause some antibiotic resistance, and that's always a concern. All that said, some people swear by Angel Eyes and they love it! I think what you have to do is weigh the pros and cons, and maybe even give it a trial, and then make the best decision for you and your kiddo. Only you know your kiddo best. I don't know what I'd do if I was in your shoes...I would probably be tempted to see what Angel Eyes would do for my kiddo, out of curiosity, if nothing else. Have you tried using bottled water yet instead of tap water for their bowls? Many people here notice less tearing when they switch to a purified water.

| Currently, we're using Pro Bloom by The Honest Kitchen. It's goat's milk w/probiotics & digestive enzymes. I've found that the recommended amount was too much for my guys, gave them the runs! I only mix 1/4 teaspoon w/4 tablespoons of warm water & give them ea/ a tablespoon full w/their dinner. It makes their poopie very small & firm.

| Previous posts have provided great info on this subject. I personally have only used a flea comb daily around the eyes.
