| Picky Eaters? I have two puppies, a ten month old pomapoo and a 9 month old Yorkie. They were eating good until spring break came when my brother and sister came to stay for a week. My brother and sister likes to really spoil them and give them extra attention so when they weren't eating well I didn't put much thought into it. I figured they have too many distractions. Later in the week both dogs would barely touch their food so I thought since both dogs did not want their food maybe someone left the bag open and let it get stale so I gave them some wet dog food to test if they were hungry or if it was the food. They ate all their food instantly. So I fed them wet food for a few days to make sure they ate something then after my brother and sister left I bought a new bag of dry dog food and mixed it with the wet food to try getting them back to dry food. They would eat some but not all their food. Trixie the pomapoo likes to eat. She normally eats all her food the moment it is put in her bowl. *I have to feed them in their separate rooms because Xena eats slow and Trixie will try to eat Xena's food too. Xena doesn't over eat if someone like my dad puts too much food in the bowl she will eat her fill then leave the rest. If you put more food in Trixie's bowl she would eat it too so it's a little strange she is the main one not eating.* I tried going back to just dry food but neither dogs will eat it. They will nibble a little of hide some pieces in their room but by time supper comes their bowls are still full. I tried mixing it again but they are still leaving food. Are my pups suddenly just being picky or is their something wrong with the dry food that I dont know about? Xena just started her period two days ago could that have something to do with it? But Trixie has been off hers for a month now so it doesn't really fit for her to be finicky too. Aside from barely eating they have both been their active happy selves. Does anyone have advice on what to try next or have an idea on what the real problem is? |

| I moisten their kibble & mix it w/wet/canned food for dinner. I have to give it this way bc mine will gulp down the kibble w/out chewing. Plus all the xtra moisture is good for their kidneys. There's nothing wrong w/giving canned food, it's superior to kibble: Canned or Dry Dog Food - What's the Better Choice? I just have to mix it w/kibble (for 1 meal) bc I have 4 & feeding them weruva only can get very expensive!

| I used to think Xena did the same thing when I found whole pieces of kibble in her throw up a while back. I was told it was normal for dogs to eat the kibble whole. Xena definitely chews her food though, its why it takes her longer to eat. She had a very tiny mouth. Anyway thanks for the advice. I did not know wet food was better for them, I found that link very informative ^.^ For now I am feeding them a mix of dry and wet food. Like you said dry food is much cheaper and this is the only way I can get them to eat. |

| wet and dry for jess too. She swallows the kibble whole and when it mixes with stomach acid and water it gets HUGE when it comes back up. So she gets 1/4 cup royal canin mixed with cottage cheese in the morning and a 1/4 cup at night mixed with either blue buffalo canned or simply nourish.. |
