| After Bath Ear Cleanser When Riley was having his environmental allergies, last year and got bad ear infections, the vet told me to use Virbac Corium-20 to clean his ears once a week. I am looking for something to use after bath time. I see that there is a Virback Epi-Otic Ear Cleaner, for cleansing and drying. I am wondering if I should get that for after bath time, or if I could just use the Corium-20. Also wondering which ear cleanser people on here use after bath time? |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I can't remember, but did the vet do a smear or culture for the infections? You prob treated the infections w/ prescriptions, but sometimes it helps to try different ones. Wylie had recurrent ear infections...but for him, it turned out to be caused by undiagnosed Cushings. The ear ointment that really seemed to stop his infections was an ointment that worked on both bacteria and fungus. I don't have any ear cleaning stuff, but it looks like other have good suggestions.

Yeah, they had given me Tresaderm for his ear infections, and then he had an "Awful" allergic reaction to the Tresaderm. She gave him a round of Clavamox and that is when she told me to buy the Corium-20 and to use that, weekly, as well. I gave him his bath on Sunday and he seemed to be shaking his head a little after..... I am assuming from a little water in his ears.... I went ahead and used the Corium-20, but am thinking maybe i need to use something that will dry up any water. | |

| I use epi otic too. The previous ear cleaner i used had alcohol and dried out her ears too much. I've been using this for 2 weeks and loving it so far |

| We use Vet Solutions ear cleaner with a drying agent after baths, when I remember to do it. It dries up any moisture without drying skin.

| The only thing I've ever used on my dogs is Virbac Epi-Otic (ear cleanser for dogs, cats, puppies and kittens) Cleansing, Drying, Non-irritating. I would never use anything else.

Cleaning your dog's ears will help prevent ear infections. No, this will not treat an ear infection but this will help their ears stay healthy. I clean Taycie's after her weekly bath. This also helps dry the ears after a bath which will prevent infection. I just squirt a small amount in each ear and rub at the base of her ear. That is it!
