| Am I crazy? I'm taking Chip to the vet Saturday for a bit of a check up, but I don't think there is anything wrong with him. Around his little boy parts in the area where there isn't a lot of hair, he's been getting a lot of raised black bumps that look like scabs almost. I don't think it's anything because he's had some of them for awhile, but I just want the vet to tell me that he's fine or if he's not, then obviously I want to get the proper treatment for him. I googled it and people had several different answers of what it could be - fleas (I know this is not the case), age spots, moles, or fungus. Am I crazy for taking him in? Chip is much more important than my dignity, but I don't want the vet to think I'm wasting their time or look at me like I'm nuts. Has any body ever seen something like that on their dogs before?

| You are not crazy. I check out anything untoward with the vet first. It is simply the quickest way to help. I'd rather waste my time and money than lose time that could be valuable helping my dog should something be going on. Better safe than sorry. Better poorer due to vet fees than sad and crying from waiting.

| Yes. Peek a Boo's skin got very puckered looking, almost like elephant skin when he had mites, and black spots on his tummy. No fleas here either. The skin should be smooth everywhere. His scrotum, armpits and parts of his chest were puckered looking. It was treated and his skin did return to normal.

| Thanks guys. If Chip had mites, wouldn't Smokey be having a problem too? Smokey has no skin issues.

| Not necessarily. And I wasn't meaning that I thought your dog has mites, just saying that different things can cause skin problems. He'd be itching too if he did have mites, and you didn't say he was.

| I know you weren't saying he has mites, but I'm sure it's always a possibility. Chip isn't itching or anything. Doesn't seem to bother him. Just those spots. I'm wondering if it's not some sort of weird fungus thing... he had a fungus/infection thing in his ear in the recent past, so it wouldn't surprise me.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Definitely not crazy. Better to check it out. Now when I had to take Pixie to the vet recently because she wanted to be on the other side of the gate or she would bug me until I let her, that may be crazy. lol Luckily my vet knows I am very cautious and know when my babies aren't acting themselves. Keep us posted.

| I would think most vets want you to bring your pet in for an exam if you thought there is a problem. I doubt they will think you are crazy just concerned because you love him.
