| Melanoma? Extremely worried!!! First let me say that I have already made an appt to see the vet, but it's for next week. So I'm really worried... Today I found a black spot on my 6 year old's ear. It's very dark on the inside and blue on the outside. It looks like a mole, but if it was on a human, you'd think that it would be melanoma. Any similar experiences or ideas what it might be? It looks sort of like the one in the upper right hand corner (not as bad though): http://www.newhopeblog.com/Monitor%20Moles.jpg Thanks! |

| Dogs do get melanoma, both benign and malignant. I *think* (but could be wrong) that the malignant type (cancer) would be in spots where the dogs pigmentation is dark (the rims around the mouth, eyes, nose, etc). In other spots, it might still be melanoma but benign (not cancer or life-threatening). Let us know what the doc says.

| My Maltese has something like that, and it is nothing also. Trust your vet. If it's been there for a couple of years, if it were malignant melanoma, you would have lost her by now.
