Donating YT 30K Club Member | Eating kibble with no teeth? Nikki is between 13-15 years of age and had all his teeth removed in November'09. I have had him 2 months and it has been a real struggle to get him to eat. I have tried the California Natural wet that he was eating before I got him and he ate it for a couple of weeks and stopped. Then I finally gave him Cesars out of desperation as he was losing a lot of weight. I recently started feeding my 3 the California Natural small bite kibble and Nikki wants to eat it too. So for the last few days he has been eating the kibble and leaving the wet. Is it ok for him to eat kibble, since he seems to be swallowing it whole as he can't chew it? Thanks I have never had a dog this old before.

| What about wetting the kibble before feeding it to him to soften it up some Patti. Water or fat free/low sodium chicken broth will do the trick. He's such a cutie and sure does not look his age. Even adding some wet food to it to soften it up. Poor baby. Your such a sweetie to care for him. |

| Patti - I have two dogs with out any teeth...by the time they came into rescue they couldn't be saved and these are young dogs... but to answer your question mine do eat dry (Blue Buffalo) always down and at night I open one can of wet for all 6 dogs but make sure the two without teeth get a little more. Everyone is fat and happy and I would not worry. For wet I use Blue Buffalo Turkey and they all LOVE it and they all LOVE the dry. It has taken me years to get a food that everyone loves and has good reviews in whole dog journal.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Thanks. If I wet it he won't eat it! It's so funny because he started bringing these little nylabone toothbrush bones up on the bed and having them right next to him. Then last night he brought up one of those white marrow type bones and slept with that too. It was so cute to see him with all these chew bones and no teeth.

| Don't know if this helps but friends of ours use to have a small dog who either couldn't or didn't want to chew. They used to grind up the kibble in a grinder or blender and the dog would eat it with gusto. |
