| Foaming at the mouth... I saw my puppy foaming at the mouth yesterday and it looked like a ton of spit bubbles around her muzzle. I'm not sure what this was a sign of. I found a thread on here that said foaming can be related to stress or the presence of food but she had been whining and barking for a good 15 minutes due to the people that I had over during the weekend. We had a busy weekend and she is not use to that. She was also in her kennel a lot more this weekend than she is use to because I didn't want her to get underfoot and get stepped on since she is so tiny. Any ideas? I was worried it might have been hypoglycemia or something serious but it went away and hasn't come back. She still has a very normal appetite and has no problems with pottying at all. We have a german shepherd and my bf's roommates have 3 cats but they are never around each other. She has not ever stepped foot outside except when I'm carrying her to the car to take her somewhere so I know she didn't eat grass or a toad. Thanks!! |

| This can happen if they become stressed or anxious. It is not food related. Lacey has done this when I take her to her dog meetup groups. She does not like to be around other dogs. It gets so bad the front of her will be soaking wet. The first time she did it I thought she was having a seizure and rushed her to the vet. The vet told me that she was stressed from being around so many dogs. It sounds like your puppy was stressed from the company. |

| Yup it's stress. Uni likes dogs, but she gets very nervous when there's too many and she is in an enclosed area, such as a back yard or small dog area of the dog park. She will pace and whine and her front is all soaked and bubbling. As soon as we leave and wipe her mouth she's fine. So now she only goes to very small meetups, about 5 dogs or less.

| What a relief! I was worried but she didn't exhibit any other symptoms of a seizure or low blood sugar which was why I didn't think it was necessary to take her to the vet. I'm actually nervous about taking her to the dog park when she is able because they have so many large dogs there. But we will cross that bridge when we get there Thanks so much for your responses! It puts me at ease now. |
