I would just get pre blood work done prior to her surgery, just so they can make sure her levels are where they need to be. For the next 7 days, you will have to leash walk ONLY, keep the incision dry, don't let her lick at it, and no, no, no JUMPING!!!!!! They will probably give her some meds and sometimes the meds make them feel no pain, but still no jumping! Depending on if she stays over night at the vet, is a good thing, but I was able to pick Fiona up the same day, and when I took her home, I offered her very little water, if she held that down, I gave her some food. Good Luck, and I'm sure she will be fine!

| i had Coral wear baby onesies so she wouldn't lick her incision. When we went potty, i just un buttoned it and folded it under. I put the front on her back and left the middle button open for her nub to poke through.

| Maggie was in a bit of pain the night of her spay and a little quiet the next day but not in pain. She also had 3 or 4 teeth removed. I would ask your vet how he feels about administering the meds to your little one if she is in some pain. Some dogs are spayed later in the day so the vet doesn't want to overdue the pain meds. Maggie's procedure was performed very early in the day so the vet okayed me to give her some more that evening. As the above poster said, please have pre-op bloodwork done so there are no surprises. Best of luck with your little ones spay. You might also want to check my collars out for helping out with after care of your little one.

| Advice: Relax It is always way more stressful for us then it is for them! Anything to buy: A Cone Collar from Mom to Hot Rod to keep your baby from licking her incision or having to be uncomfortable.

| You have great advice here already. We worry about them more then what we need to. I remember when I had my Daisy Mae spayed, she came out of it like a champ. The next day she did not even act like anything had happened. The hard part is to keep them from hurting themselves. Make sure to give her a bath first because you can not bath them for aprox 10 days afterwords. |

| Pixie was done at 6 months and she came out of it just fine. Just need to keep them from licking and like some else said give her a bath before going. Keep them from jumping and your Vet will let you know else you need to do.

Of course I was a nervous wreck when Zoey was spayed but I guess that is just being a good and caring mom. I agree with the bloodwork and also I had a terrific cone collar from Mom to Hot Rod that came in VERY handy the first couple of days! Soooo much more comfy than a plastic one that the vet will use if they mess with their incision.

| Hehe - it sure wasn't easy for us either. I did alot of cuddling when I could - it helped alot to keep her calm and sedate.
