| How sad! We pay a lot of money to vets and if a mistake is made they need to take care of it. Parents to pets need more rights to protect their lil ones. Hopefully one day!

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | OMG. I've never heard that happening and while it's a part of having pets - I don't think I could ever hear that and be able to do it again either..... |

YT 500 Club Member | I learnt the hard way how vets can get it wrong when my little 3.5lb girl Hope broke her leg. First the emergencey vet wouldnot ppick up the phone and eventually turned it off. I contacted another vet who also tried to call him but got no reply, he thankfullu agreed to see her and gave her pain-meds until morning giving me the chioce of leaving her with him or going to my own vet in the morning. I stupidly chose the latter. They did the surgery, putting a pin in to stabalise the leg and then put a cast over the surgery site. I didn't know enough to ask any questions and she ended up loosing her leg to gangreen. And no I still never got an awnser as to why my call was egnored. I also read stories years ago of one vet cutting the beard off some-ones champion skye terrier, and another who speyed a champion dalmation who'd gone in for surgery on a tooth. Recently theres a report of a vet struck off, not because he showed female staff lewd pictures on his phone or because he placed the testical of a dog he'd just neutured in his mouth, but because he tried to buy steriods from a chemists illigally claiming they were for a dog. Seams they can get away with almost anything. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Quotes from this article that confirm what I've personally experienced: "...state veterinary boards dismiss up to 80 percent of the complaints filed against their members..." "The AVMA collects no statistics on veterinary malpractice suits..." Both of my dogs have paid high prices due to bad vets. We are now on our...let's see...6th vet here in Phoenix and we've been here 5 years...? I could write a short book on the awful care both of my dogs have received . I don't want a single penny back from any vet...I just want good, ethical, competent vet care...bc I get worn out from the pressure of feeling like I can't rely on any vet, at the end of the day...bc that's really been my only experience. I know there *are* excellent vets out there...but I haven't been very lucky. I know who my future vets are ...but they don't exactly know that they're moving here yet ...as I still need to win the lottery so I have some leverage...

| After I lost my Joey due to a vets gross negligence I have developed a total mistrust of vets.....I will never blindly trust a vet again......In the years previous to losing Joey I have encountered numerous instances with vets from overvaccination to misdiagnosis.......I have not found a vet yet that I trust and at this point I doubt I ever will..... .....The ones that truly care for the animals seem to be the exception not the rule.....I think the veterinarian profession has lost it's way and changed it's focus to monetary gains as the prime focus of their practice........ Vet abuse is one of those problems that seems to be talked about in hushed tones. No one wants to believe it happens, after all aren't all vets supposed to love all the animals?..... This first site has case after case of vets doing the abuse.......really sad...... Veterinary Malpractice, Veterinary Negligence, Veterinary Abuse Pet-Abuse.Com - Animal Abuse Case Details: Dog beaten, eye dislodged, vet charged - Sun City, AZ (US) Texas Veterinary Records ~ Disciplinary Documents ~ Last Name Letter A As long as pets are considered personal property there is no fear of prosecution and accountability........The Vets boards are just foxes watching the other foxes, most cases will be dismissed..... mine was too, was I surprised?....absolutely not...........
