| Help...trouble with diet!! Hi everyone, I have been away from the boards for a bit . My son was earning his scuba OW certification so I have been busy with all he ( and dh , who was becoming recertified) required. Anyway I have a question for you all... Chloe and Sydney have been on Wellness Original Core for many months now . They both love the food and eat it very well. I use to free feed them but in the last couple months we made some changes . Syd ( my 10 pounder) became such a little piggy that now I feed them two meals a day (with a lunch of yogurt and carrotts or something in between the two) and they get snacks throught the day. I dont leave the dry food down like I use to. They seem fine with it and I dont have to worry about Syd eating all the food and Chloe getting none , I can watch when I feed them to make sure they both eat. Even though Chloe is small (2.5 lbs.) I don't worry about her not eating enough because she gets her yogurt and snacks mid day (and throughout the day ) so I'm sure she is OK. The problem is now Sydney is pooing all the time! She has been trained for years , but it seems like after she eats the poo is right on its way out , practically while shes still finishing up her food! She has even pooed on my blanket on my sofa!! Needless to say Mama was not happy . In the beginning yeah , she had to make an adjustment to the food , but everything had evened out and she was only pooing once , maybe twice a day in the morning and evening...but now its all the time ! I don't know if it's the food starting to effect her or maybe she isn't getting enough to eat in between her meals or for her meals ( I do give her the recommended amounts + a bit over sometimes) I dont know what is causing it. It's like she eas and poos RIGHT AWAY! Should I go back to free feeding? Or should I try a brand with less protein? UGGHH Just when I thought I had it figured out , I'm thrown a curve ball My vet doesn't seem to think it of ant concern , but shes not here on poo duty! opinons PLEASE!

| I would say cut down on her protein. I had Mimi on Wellness Core and she did poo couple of times and it would be very moist and soft. I have her on natural balance fish and venison now. Hope this helped =)

| If you have them set on a scheduled time to feed, you might try walking 10-15 minutes before you feed. That often times will cause a BM. The trouble with free feeding is you wont ever know for sure what time he needs to go. |

| Thanks everyone. I talked with her vet a bit more and she seems to think that the amount of protein might just be a problem for her. She has nothing against the high protein diet for them , but she says if her system just cant handle it for some reason , then it may be best to try a different food. I really thought I had found "the one" After the inital bowel adjustment period they both seemed fine and were going on a good schedule and both seemed happy with the food , so of course ...It couldn't last So were trying Natures Balance LID diet Venison and sweet potato. I have always mixed this brand of wet food in with their wellness core dry food , so I know they love the flavor. Syd seems to be doing much better ( fingers crossed ) and her eratic pooing has stopped ( for now atleast..) Chloe didn't have a problem with the wellness but she too is eating the LID diet ( she wouldn't keep out of Syd's bowl...much to Syd's annoyance) and seems to love it...so we will see. Here's hoping the Reign of poo terror has ended I will let you know how it works ( I'm sure your waiting with bated breath to hear about my doggies bowels ) Thanks again
