| Soft spot at almost 7 months? Lorelei will be 7 months old on the 15th of June, and she still has a soft spot on her head. She was the runt of the litter and is very tiny, will she always have a soft spot or will it eventually close up? I am deathly afraid of putting bows in her hair because of the soft spot. We were trying to grow her hair out for a top knot but right now she looks like a little sheepdog with her semi long bangs in her face lol I think we may end up cutting them and just using the hair on top of her head for the bow. Any advice? |

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | It should be closed already so you best to be very careful. I wouldn't put anything on the top of her head. Is the open fontanel large? Speak to the vet and see what he/she has to say.

| No the soft spot is very small, it is definitely smaller than it was when we first brought her home but not completely closed. We have completely given up the idea of bows, and had her bangs cut so she can actually see now lol Thanks for the advice, I greatly appreciate it!

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | I have heard from breeders in the past that have had tinies that they noticed that the fontanel seemed to take a lot longer to close. Some have had adult tinies with dime sized fontanels. I think it's a good move to just cut her some bangs and stay away from the clips. I don't know about anyone else but Zoey tolerates the clips for maybe five minutes before she turns into Zoey the Great and gets them off.

| My Riley is 5 months old and only weighs about 1.5lbs. He also still has a very small soft spot. It's just a little larger than a pencil eraser. I try to be very careful with it and I check it frequently, it seems to be getting smaller.

| My maddie is 6.5 months old and still has about a nickel size soft spot, my vet told me to be careful and always watch for any neurological changes for an open fontanel could be a sign of hydrocephals. So yeah she has bangs too.

| I was just wondering the same thing. Anakin still has a soft spot and he is smaller then Bella. Bella's closed a while ago. They are about 4 months old.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Roxie had s one and she is 21 months old. It has closed to the size of an eraser. I get worried when they rough house especially under the bed. I keep her bow situated over it to give her a little cushinging.
