| Lepto shot....dont do it My sister just called me and said that another vet did it again...one of her puppies was sold to a wonderful family and they took him to the vet for his shots....her contract states NO LEPTO and is on all vaccines advising teh vet NOT to give a lepto shot. Well the vet gave the puppy the lepto and he went into shock and had a seizure....will they ever learn. These guys are too small for lepto and its NOT needed, please please please all tell your vet NO LEPTO. |

| It is included in a lot of the combination shots. If your vet wants to give him the combo shot DHLPP, he is giving your puppy lepto. It is the "L" in the vaccine.(distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parainfluenza and parvo virus) |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Joey's vet doesn't give Lepto shots to any dog.

If the vet was told no and he did it without consent, he needs to be reported to the state veterinary board. It is against the law to make those kinds of decisions for his clients, however, he could've required it to hospital the dog but would still need consent to give it.

That is true! They will sometimes even try to talk you out of what your breeder has told you as well! I worked with a vet that would do that ALL the time!

| They dont know if the puppy will be ok. The vet saw the notes as my sister had them in bold and HIGHLIGHTED and thought the puppy was big enough so he gave it to him anyway....can you believe it???? |

| Omg, I would be soooo mad and I would def. be reporting the vet!!! I know whenever I was specific on vaccinations for Lilly, they tried pressuring me into the others even thought I specifically stated I didn't want them. It's so frustrating!

| Not really sure, I know its a protection against some type of infection but as far as I understand its not even prevelant in most areas. Let me see if I can find some info and post it. |

| Our regular vet has never given a shot with Lepto in it, but when he was on vacation and I took our litter of 3 puppies in for their 2nd set of shots all of them were give Lepto and ALL of them had allergic reactions to it! One of them was quite severe. Thankfully they are all just perfectly fine, but it is SO very important not to just have it in writing, but to also ask before the shot is given if there is Lepto in it. Thank you for posting this thread...
