| I have Another question , sorry :( Chloe has been eating Blue Buffalo puppy kibble . She doesn't have a real problem with it ( except she wont eat the life source bits, and its not like she devours it like she did the old 'filler filled" kibble she ate) I was thinking about switching her to the small size adult kibble after her puppy food is gone or trying the BB Wilderness ( their kibble form of raw diet) ... My question(s)... Since she is already on Blue Buffalo brand do I need to switch slowly from the puppy to the adult (or wilderness) ,or is it just O.K. to switch her right over? Also the wilderness says its for active dogs ...she is active but not as active as I think they may mean , so is it to high a protein for her ? I was considering a ( NV)raw and kibble diet anyway , so I'm guessing it would be O.K. ....but was wondering if this ( wilderness ) would be just as good.

| High protein is fine (and even good) for dogs that are not already liver compromised. She should be fine on it! And even though it's the same brand, I would switch her slowly, just to be safe. The NV raw/kibble diet would be better than just kibble but it sounds like Blue Buffalo is a pretty good food so it's just a matter of your preference.

| Thank you. I didn't think high protein food would be bad for a non liver compromised dog, but I have read so much lately that I am starting to confuse myself I wanted to do NVraw in the a.m. with a little kibble at night but I like the idea of being able to pick up wilderness locally while the others I would have to order online. When I went in today a representative from BB was there and told me Wilderness was BB version of a raw diet and I could do it similar to the way I wanted to do NVraw. She said I could do wilderness kibble in the am ( mixing it up some with some canned varieties at times ) and that would be the equivalant to NVraw...and if I wanted I could do BB small bites small breed adult kibble at night. She said I only need to feed them wilderness once a day... That seems odd to me. They usually eat slowly and eat small amounts throughout the day , so it may last all day anyway. She says the raw once a day is all they really need...I just though they would be hungry at night. Does wlderness in the a.m. and small bites at night seem O.K. or is that overload?

| I would pick one type of food and stick with it, and save the other for a rotation as opposed to feeding two types of food throughout the day. I mean I guess you could do both types but I see it as an unnecessary complication to your life! While the Wilderness is the kibble equivalent of feeding raw, it is still not quite the same thing. I would still do the NV raw if that's the feeding philosophy you want to follow. Nothing can really beat fresh, raw meat. As far as feeding frequency, it's up to you. Many raw feeders only feed once a day so maybe that's what she was going off of. I personally wouldn't feel comfortable with my dogs only eating once a day - I sometimes feel bad about them only eating 2 times a day. I would just go by the feeding guidelines on the bag and split up the recommended amount into however many portions a day you want to feed.

| Thank you. I think I will do as you said and just break it up into portions throughout the day. Weather I do NVraw or wilderness kibble I wouldn't feel right letting them eat just once a day. I feel my big dog (10 lbs) may get to hungry and my little dog (2.5 lbs) may need more so I like the idea of breaking it into smaller meals throughout the day. When they wont eat or are tired of what they are eating you switch it up ,or rotate the food to another food ,right? So how gradual do you have to switch if you are rotating from one to another ( and then maybe back again) in the same brand ...like for instance say I am giving BB wilderness kibble and she wont eat it because she is bored , so I try the BB lamb...do I have to go gradual with the switch again , again or is O.K. to switch over quicker because it is in the same brand family....am I making any sense Thanks I swear I am trying to figure this out so I wont keep up with the 1000 questions! Going without a dog for so many years has affected my ability to think on a dog related level It was so much easier when I was oblivious and feeding bad kibble ..... Darn it , I had to go and start caring

I don't have a great answer for you for that question. The lady I buy my food from told me that if you were switching in between flavors of the same brand, you don't need to do a gradual switch. I always do anyway - simply because I'd rather be safe than sorry and not have to deal with upset tummies (i.e. diarrhea and vomit). I do switch faster when it's the same brand, but I still like a couple of days transition.

| Thanks Yeah a couple of days switch sounds good when rotating .Better safe than sorry. I never knew you could rotate I just figured they ate what they ate , I never thought of them getting bored With this initial switch ( to either BB or NV) I plan on doing it very slow ( over about 14 days) Sydney didn't do well last time I tried to switch her because I think I did it to fast...she was sick with diarrhea and vomiting for over a week and a half or longer ( I think she may of also had some problems from a rawhide) and we had to put her back on her old food. I want to make sure she doesn't go through all that upset again...so we are going at a snails pace to switch her. We put her back on Beneful ( crap ) and it is ssoooo full of junk that I think her body may reacted harshly to the good food so the slower the better I think.. Thank you very much!! I feel much better about all this now and feel I have a direction to go in
