| help with stinky face I'm not sure what's wrong with our new puppy yoshi but his face always smells like poo. We just bathed him and then 10 minutes later his face stinks again. He is teething and has bad breath and we first thought it was saliva on his face but it's not the same stink. His face actually smells like poo and he sleeps in his kennel in our room beside our other puppy and when you stay out of the room for a bit and come back in you can smell poo |

| we've looked all around the room and house and there's no hidden surprise poo anywhere, so I'm guessing it's from his face. Anyone have any ideas why it would smell like this? the top of his head smells like the shampoo but around his snout and between the eyes area is where the smell comes from |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | My guess is that he is eating his own poo...if it is truly a poo smell. What are you feeding? Sometimes switching the diet will solve the matter, but I'd do this quickly to prevent a habit from forming.

| If he is not eating poo, it may be his tears that stink. Callie had that. The vet. Opthomologist gave me micoazole wipes to clean around her eyes. Fixed it right up. I do it about every 3 days. You can get them online. I cut them into 3 pieces as they are pretty large. Search for Malaseb towelettes

I paid an arm and a leg for advice from a veterinary Opthomologist, so I like to pass along the help I got if I can. If you PM me your address, Ill send you a wipe in the mail, they are individually pkgd. so you can try one out. I cut them into 3 and seal them in a baggie. I use one every 3 days to clean around they eye.

| well when we first got him he was rubbing his head on the carpet and pretty much anything else he could find. He's from a rescue in the states and he's 7 months old. I'm not sure what they fed him before but he's eating orijen now and he doesn't eat his poo cause he's indoor trained and once he poos on the ugodog or where ever he may poo, we pick it up right away and flush it Last edited by dolce0621; 12-24-2008 at 01:22 PM. |

| Hi, we're new to this forum and this is actually my first post, and what I came on to search for. Our puppy of 10 weeks has the same odor on his face. In reading the previous posts, I noticed that eating poo and tears may be the cause. What I noticed is that his face, due to the hair, gets pretty wet when he drinks water from his bowl. To me, the odor smells like something that got wet and became ransid. Could his facial hair being wet after drinking be causing this odor? |

| If it's the tears... Give your dog distilled water to drink instead of tap water. The trap water had minerals that cause the staining and smell. It also helps to produce less tears. This is especially helpful for light colored dogs that have the red face staining. |

| Well, i dont see the problem. Even if it doesnt help the original poster, if someone stumbles across this in the future they will find useful info. |
