| New Puppy We have a new 8 wk old female Yorkie that has been with us for 2 days. The breeder had her on Purina One which she has not really eaten much of since she has been with us. She seems to be drinking water, although not a lot in my estimation, even though she is urinating. She does seem to be sleeping quite a lot as well. Between her frequent naps she will play with toys and interact with the family, but then goes right back to sleep. Would y'all consider this normal behavior for an 8 wk old just introduced to a new home?? I grew up with Irish Setters, so this cute and quite lovable Yorkie is a new experience for me. Any help/advice would be appreciated. Thanks. |

| Congratulations on the new puppy. All little puppies mainly do at that age is sleep. He may not be eating so well because of alll the new adjustments. Good luck!

| Congrats on your new addition. My Yorkie did the same thing and for the first two weeks I was so worried - just a little new mom anxiety. I did hand feed her for a few days until she was used to her new surroundings. Soon enough she new where her food was. She still sleeps quite a bit, but when she is awake she's full of energy. Best wishes!

| It's normal. Little puppies sleep a lot. Pretty much all they do is sleep, eat and pee/poo. They are like babies. I brought my youngest one home when she was 8 weeks old also. I mixed her dry food with some canned food for a little while so she ate. After a couple of weeks, I started to take the wet food away.

| Babies love to play, but they sure love that sleepy time. I don't think you have a thing to worry about. My baby is almost l3 weeks old and she plays like a little maniac then flops down and goes to sleep. lol They are so adorable!!!! Also, welcome to Yorkie Talk....you'll love it here. | New baby My little Huey is now 14 weeks. I got him when he was 10 weeks and I was worried too. I am still concerned with everything he does, probably because he is so little. He still sleeps so much and when he first came home, he did not eat too much. The vet told me that when he is hungry he will eat, that he will not starve himself. So it all seems normal, at least it is what I have seen from my little guy. |
