♥ love my girls!! ♥ Donating Member | Here's a recipe (quoted from the thread below) for babies who aren't eating....this is specifically to make sure they don't get hypoglycemic. Hope this helps you! http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...oglycemia.html She had me mix up the following formula, to feed via syringe. After forcing the first 2 cc's into her,she kept it down and 20 minutes later she was up and bouncing around, lol! After that, no more syringe, but she wanted it off my finger. Then she graduated to eating from a little bowl. Only problem is, she's now a little picky about food, but she's alive, and healthy. This produced nice firm stool from her by the way. I still give her the baby mixture right before bedtime (about midnight for us) and she gets through the night on a belly full of that 1/2 cup half and half 1/2 cup baby rice cereal 1 jar meat baby food, anything but turkey 1 tsp. karo or pancake syrup Mix together and add a little water if it's too thick for the syringe. Give approximately 2-4 cc's every hour (depending on size), then when the pup is doing better, you can increase the amount and decrease the frequency. After a day or two of this, as long as they are eating this on their own, gradually add softened kibble or canned food and slowly decrease the baby mixture until they are eating the food. Should take a week or so to do the change, to avoid upsetting their tummy. She told me to keep checking her gums, that they should look like a humans, dark pink to red, and her ears should feel warm, not cold at all, . If I saw gray in her gums, I was to feed immediately and if no improvement in 1/2 hour, to get her to the vet again. And I was told also to keep her warm, so we took turns holding her against our bodies.

♥ love my girls!! ♥ Donating Member | I had another thought about why she may not want to eat......I'm not sure how long it takes tapeworms to hatch and latch on, but she may very well have them!! The only way for dogs/cats/humans! to get fleas is to either eat a live tapeworm OR to eat a flea that has eaten tapeworm eggs....the flea is the middle man for tapeworms. Tapeworm eggs cannot hatch without having been ingested by a flea!! And when dogs are biting at them with their teeth, they sometimes ingest them too. So, she may not be hungry because she has a ton of tapeworms. You'll eventually see them (segments will crawl out of their rear at night to lay eggs, so you'll either see the live white worms stuck in her hair or in her stool, and/or you may see what look like grains of rice in her bedding, or wherever she sleeps at night. If she was INFESTED with fleas, I'd take her to the vet and have her treated even if I never saw any. My cat AND Bella (my Yorkie) both have had fleas at completely different time (years in between), and both had tapeworms after too!

| I'd consult a vet I'd take the dog to the vet and get it tested for worms. If the stools are loose watch out for coccidia. My new puppy had giardia and coccidia (coccidia didn't show up right away so I had her retested several times). The poster who mentioned tapeworms was right on. Flea infestation can definately cause tapeworms, loss of appetite, lethargy and weightloss. Best wishes |

Donating YT 10K Club Member | You can try adding the regular food while gradually reducing the boiled chicken.

| I keep reading about turkey, cottage cheese, baby food, etc. Maybe this has already been addressed, but have you tried different brands of just canned dog food? My yorkie puppy, even at 8 weeks, will eat anything you put in front of her face. But she loves Pedigree puppy food that comes in the little pouch. I think we need to get them on "dog" food as early as we can so we don't have to mess with preparing people food all the time. I never introduced people food in the first place. Just my thoughts but I do wish you the best of luck. I am sure your pup will be eating great in no time. Keep up the good work!
