My yorkie, Beanie baby, is SO stinky! I give her a bath and she stinks two days later!! I find this unusual because my other yorkie, who is 4 yrs., doesn't stink at all. (unless he hasn't had a bath for 2 or 3 weeks - and it's still not as bad as Beanie baby)

She is 5 months old, is very tiny - 1.9lbs, and is SO adorable (even as stinky as she is). She is the perfect pet and is very loving. Does anyone know how to solve this problem? I've tried shampooing her up with a good lather and a good long rinse....doesn't work.

I can't keep washing her every other day! Help!

My puppy is 14 weeks and I just gave him a bath two days ago and he smells again. I too cannot keep washing him. I would like him to smell better and am not sure why it is. If someone has any suggestions, please let both of us know.

Congratulations on your new baby! I can't stand my baby to be stinky and have been bathing her about every 3 days or so.... I use a conditioner and rinse her off really well. My other dog hasn't had a bath for 2 weeks and smells just fine. Very strange.

Looking forward to a solution for our stinky situation.

Oh! Thank you! I'm so glad I found this site. It's fun to talk to folks that are just as excited about their babies as I am of mine! I see that you're going to be a new mommy soon too! How exciting! I'll look forward to hearing about your new baby. When are you going to adopt him/her?

your baby could have a yeast infection and boy does that smell you may need to take her to the vets for some cream, i think someone on here baby had that problem a couple of weeks ago and someone did reccomend something, see if you can find that link for more info,

Is it her entire body or just one certain area? I know Reagan's face can get smelly sometimes. I've niticed that if I don't put up her hair one day and her eyes start watering it can cause her face to smell. Also just from her eating and drinking and it getting in her beard an odor can build up in that as well.

It may also just be the shampoo you are using. I know in my own hair certain shampoos won't leave my hair smelling good as long as others. I'm sure dog shampoos are the same. I really can't tell you how long Reagan will stay smelling good because the first time we let her out after a bath she's out rolling in the grass and dirt and if that doesn't get her back to smelling like her usual self you can always count on her to find a puddle of mud/water to soak in. I would say though without the grass rolling and stuff she will stay smelling good for a couple days maybe, but even then she doesn't smell bad necessarily just not like the shampoo anymore(like I say though this is if she hasn't been rolling around outside).

Macy is like that right now also, she never smelled between baths. But she is losing her back teeth, I think she is in heat and all the licking...She had a bath yesterday but last I had to use a baby smelling baby wipe on her face because it was smelly again. I am hoping it is just a puppy age thing. Keeping my fingers crossed!

HI and welcome. It was Corky the Stinky Yorky I think you are referring to. First of all, I recommend always going to the vet, cause it could be something entirely different than what Corky has which is severe skin allergies which turned into a yeast infection. Your yorky would also be kinda greasy if she has a yeast infection. Corky is still not 100% cured of the skin allergies but the smell, ahhh that unbelievable smell...esp. in the elevator, taxi, sitting near me...ugh....the smell is FINI!

I think the end of the smell came when I started mixing a few drops of 100% tea tree oil in his shampoo. It is spendy stuff, but really worth it, I put the amount of shampoo that I need for his bath in a small bowl, a few drops of tea tree DON'T OVERDO IT this is really POTENT stuff. Start with a little and stir, then stick your nose up to it, you'll see what I mean. You shampoo and then leave the lather on for 15 minutes before you rinse. Corky has become pretty good about it now and doesn't even cry, he seems to know mom's coming back before too long. Also to treat the allergy, I am using a prescription cortizone cream.

Something else I read on YT & haven't tried yet but is harmless is to put a dry oatmeal shampoo on your Yorkie. There are recipes on the net for making your own. You just rub it on them and after a few minutes brush it off. Good luck, I know what your going through.

OOps one more thing. After your yorky eats, you should always wash their face and beard with a clean cloth or paper towel and some plain water. I got this straight out of a "How to care for your Yorky" book.

Corky actually comes to me when he finishes eating because he loves to have a clean face. One day I was out and my husband fed him and didn't understand what Corky wanted after eating. Cork finally got fed up....then proceeded to wipe his own face and beard on my antique persian rug! ICK!

Try using Chris Christensen products. The smell stays with them and it leaves their coat silky smooth.
