| I'm really here nor there about it. Layla won't eat it so i guess that makes my decison easy. I am also weary about commercial foods so i guess if you are able to go BARF then thatw ould be better- but thats just my opinion. |

| My 11 month old chorkie (chihuaha x yorkie),Toby absolutley loves raw fruit and veg. If i offer him something processed like a little bit of burger he turns his nose up, but he loves raw celery, carrot apple and lettuce more than anything in the world. He loves anything crunchy such as ryvitas to. The vet said it's really good for him and his teeth are in excellent condition. I should take a leaf out of his book as i want to lose 2 stone but cant resist chocolate and most junkfood. |

| Against (but that could change at any time). Because I'm against it and because Ellie has a liver issue, we have not tried it.

| I certainly wouldn't feed my dog raw meat as cooking it kills all the bacteria. I understand that in the wild dogs eat raw meat, and when they kill prey they always eat the organ meat first as it contains the most nutrition. However dogs which are reared domestically haven't built up the same immune systems as wild dogs and are saseptable to salmonella, listeria, ecoli, straphlacocus, compylabactor and many other potential bacterias that may harm them. If you do decide to feed them raw meat i would research it thoroughly and speak to a vet but i would be very dubious. Like i said before if you can get them to eat raw veg it will benefit their teeth and ciould potentially prolong their life. |

| We are for it. We are starting early next week so we haven't actually done it, but are very excited to start. I think that immunity is such a touchy issue. I'm a nurse and in humans its a HUGE hot topic, same in dogs. Its one of those issues where everyone has to make their OWN choices and stand by them. Same with what you feed. |

| I am FOR it. I was a bit leery about bones, perforations and such until I remember Lulu used to be given COOKED CHICKEN BONES by my maid. NEVER DO THIS. But, Lulu never had any problems with it. Both my girls are avid crunchers, so I'm quite confident in switching as early as next week. The bacteria argument... Well.. Even with kibble dogs die of salmonella so the argument is a bit moot. Dogs eat, lemme recount, their own poo, stones on walks, lick the floors, chews baseboards, etc etc. Some even eats other animal's poo. I really don't think bacteria is an issue here. They even lick their own genitals. I mean, come on! About fresh veggies.. When I used to feed carrots to Mocha, she had so much poo. I always check her poo, and most of the carrots went undigested. When I stopped feeding her carrots or any kinds of veggies, she poos very, very little. Now, I do not know what went on there, but that alone tells me that maybe dogs really can't digest veggies very well. I didn't believe it at 1st, just like most people, but there you go. To be honest, the testimonials are weak. If you have researched raw for a while, you will know why.

| Oh, and I'll add another testimonial of my own here. My late daschund, Dolly, prefered to sleep outside at night. She caught rats and killed them, sometimes ate them. Never had any problems. She died last June from cancer, at 13 years old. The vet believed a big factor to her having cancer was because she used to be a breeding bitch (my mom's friend is a breeder, he was the one who gave Dolly to us).

| My old dog bambi (jack russel x spaniel) used to love snacking on raw veggies most days. Everyone used to comment on how glossy her coat was and mistake her for much younger than her chronilogical age. She had immaculate teeth and used to enjoy long 5 mile walks everyday. She never had any health conditions until she became ill one day at the age of 20 where my parents were advised by the vet to have her euthanised. Now it could just be good genes or luck but i thing her diet played a part in her living til 20 with no ailments. My nan has a yorkie called Tiny who eats raw veg to, she is 18 years old and still as fit as a fiddle, she runs around chasing a ball like a dog half her age. If dogs eat too much protein without any roughage they don't poo regularly enough and it can also cause bad breath. Im open minded when it comes to my dogs they eat vegetables, some fruit (not acidic), whole grains, oily fish and flax seeds. My vet is really encouraging and said too many people believe the conception that dogs only eat meat. My dogs favourite meals are winter stew made from stewing steak lots of root veg (cooked aldente) and dog gravy from the pet shop which has no salt. They also like tuna and sardines, but they also have a complete food everyday. It's upto the individual what they feed their dogs but i think its good to try variety. |

| Definitely for!!! It's been almost a year now since we started on raw...prey model... and I would never go back to kibble. My dogs are doing so well and love the food I feed them. I'm so glad I made the switch. The tales of the bacteria and salmonella, etc... are way over stated. Dogs digestive systems still are made for digesting raw meat - they have the enzymes to kill things that would make humans sick, if we were to eat raw meat, plus a shorter digestive tract so the food is not in their systems long enough to cause problems. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...odel-diet.html Here is the thread for the prey model diet here on YT... |
