| What is a good food for food allergies? We are currently feeding our yorkie Nutro Ultra small breed adult. He has had allergies prety bad this year and the vet thinks he may have developed a food allergy. I dont know if it would e from the food we are feeding him or if it could be from the chicken jerkey strips he gets as treats. Anyone have any thoughts on that? Also which food do you recommend? We are going to try Diamond Chicken and rice Adult small breed formula, but is there something better out there that i am not aware of? thanks! |

| just out of curiosity what makes the nutro an inferior quality pet food. I was uder the impression that it was one of the better ones out there, but maybe that was just because that is what they told me at petsmart. |

| Please get him off of the Nutro: Consumer complaints about Nutro Pet Foods So many illnesses and even death are being blamed on this food. Could you post the ingredients of the Nutro that you use? Then we can see what he might be allergic to and help you pick another food.

Lady has food allergies and did really, really well on Natures Variety Prairie. I rotated through their foods as suggested. I've had to switch to homecooked now because she has other health issues, but I really love NV. Prairie: Wholesome, Holistic Kibble and Canned Diets for Dogs | Nature's Variety | |

If you have your pet on special food, this means that they can ONLY get that type of food, no other treats,no table food, NOTHING! That sometimes can interfer with whats going on. Good Luck! Ps. we had a dog that was getting kibble and bits with veggies in it, and had very dry skin and patches of hair missing- as soon as they stopped feeding her that food, she was PERFECT!

I Love My Lil' Punkin's Donating Member | I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend Natural Balance Potato and Duck Allergy Formula (we use the Small Bites) My Tatum has allergies like you wouldn't believe. She would itch non stop, scratch the hair off around her nose/mouth and get infections there, as well as re-occurring ear infections. Mind you, she was also on Hydroxyzine to tame her itching - and she STILL itched. It got to the point where I just couldn't take it anymore...and I know she couldn't either. I switched her over to Natural Balance Duck and Potato and it has LITERALLY been a miracle for us. In all honesty, I see her itch once a DAY or LESS. And I'm not joking. She is doing extremely, extremely well on it. She and I both couldn't be happier They also have other Grain Free Allergy formulas such as Sweet Potato and Fish and Sweet Potato and Venison

| Natural Balance, Acana, Orijen Natural Balance Allergy formulas seem to work for Charlie. You can also try, Acana Pacifica Three Fish Formula, or Orjien 6 fresh fish. The only thing with Natural Balance is it has a lower protein content 21%. If your baby doesn't have liver issues I would add more protein to the food. Orijen has 44% & Acana Pacifica has 33%. Acana also has a hypoallergenic formula called Lamb and apple, it has a single source protein which is lamb & a single source grain which is steamed oats, it looks pretty good and has 27% protein.

| I've used Eagle Pack duck meal and oatmeal. The vet suggested a fish protein to help with itchies. So now they are on Wellness White fish and sweet potatoe. He is still very itchy and is also on hydroxyzine. I'm kind of at a loss. i give them treats made with wheat flour, that could be the culprit. It's so frustrating not knowing what is making them itch.

How long has he been on Wellness? Where does he itch? I would pull the wheat for at least 2 months as a trial.

| I would highly recommend getting the small bites in the Natural Balance. They didn't have them at the specialty store and I purchased the regular bite size in Duck & Potato which were hard as brick, I even put them in my blender to break them down a little. My son in law picked up a bag of the small bites at petco which work much better. |
