Yorkie Yakker | She won't chew her food Delilah completely inhales her food. She won't chew it at all. What am I gonna do to get her to chew her hard food? I'm worried that this is gonna hurt her. She's so anxious to eat. The little piggy doesn't even enjoy the meal.

Yorkie Yakker | She's like a vacuum cleaner! She just inhales it. I don't see a sore tooth or anthing like that. She chews her toys, etc. she just acts like she's STARVING. She's already big for her age. I'm just worried about her little tummy. Today is her first day on hard food. I just want her to slow down. I tried just putting a little bit our at a time and not overwhelming her with the entire bowl. But she still just sucks it in.

| I posted the same story for someone else going through this, you are not alone! Our Zeke was rescued from a shelter where he was housed with bigger dogs who ate all of the food in the communal pen. When we got him, he ate for days and never did give up his 'vacuuming' ways. He was always healthy and an average meal lasted 10-15 seconds, all the way until he was put down. There is no enjoyment of the taste, but he loved to fill his belly! I have no tips, I'm sorry to say, we never broke Zeke of his habit. Good luck with your hearty eater!! |
