| Brushing Teeth? I read about how everyone brushes their yorkie's teeth like everyday. I just got my Kobe, he's 9 weeks old. He's also my very first pet ever, so I'm learning along the way. Anyway, he's very energetic and inhis puppy stage, so he bites everything includng my fingers and toes. Should I be brushing his teeth everyday? If so, any recommendations on how I can do this without getting bitten. I've tried the putting him on his back, holding his mouth shut and even yelping like a dog. Nothing works! It just doesn't phase him. I also have the same problem trying to clean out the corners of his eyes. Any recommendations there. He runs from me when I come at him with a comb, brush or even a wipe.

| Welcome to YT! I posted about this very thing this morning. Training puppies to have their teeth brushed is an act in patience! Don't worry, he'll get it. I have a 15 month old and a 9 month old and both have their teeth brushed 2X a day when I brush my teeth! They are trained to come with me to the bathroom morning and night and sit patiently. This took a very long time and both my dogs are done teething, which is the main deterrant in teeth brushing. I recommend an enzymatic formula, available at most vets. Pups seem to enjoy the 'malt' flavor the best. Don't know why. Before attempting to brush his teeth, get him used to you handling his mouth, opening it and poking around. Practice this as often as possible for a few weeks. When he is comfortable with that, show him the brush, let him sniff it, praise him if he chews it. Get him used to it in the same way you did with opening and handling his mouth. LOTS OF TREATS AND PRAISE THROUGH THE WHOLE PROCESS! Let him lick a tiny bit of the toothpaste off your finger. Start the teeth brushing by using your fingers with toothpaste on them and rubbing his teeth and gums gently. Eventually, work your way up to having the paste on the brush. I like finger brushes for training. Hope this helps! Congrats on your new baby!
