| Pinnacle Food Has anyone use Pinnacle canned foods? If so, what do you think of it? I was at a small pet store and a sales clerk told me that it was a good food and it was what he feed his dog. Hot Rod is SUCH a picky eater and has been even more so lately. He will eat something for a couple of days and then thumb his nose at it. He was doing so well for about 2 weeks and he actually put on some weight but then (?) he got picky again. That was with wellness fish. Last weekend on the boat I wound up giving him nutrical 2x because he just wouldn't eat! Granted it could have been all the people and being on the boat but when I fed him, we were inside and he just did not want to eat the food that he was just eating the prior couple of days. I have tried cans of wellness, innova, nutro and canidae. I mainly feed him innova dry-which I don't think he really cares for now which he did like before. I am just about ready to give in and home cook. I don't know what else to do! I try to give him 2 teaspoons of lowfat vanilla yogurt everyday. I just started giving him cottage cheese w/ fruit in the mornings since he would not eat his normal food. Thanks in advance for your responses.

| it doens't look too bad! i'd give it a go. Quick question, if he loves people food so much.. why not home cook? it can seem overwhelming at first but i do it about once every 1-2 months, freeze it and just bring it out as i need it. If you wanted help getting started i'd be happy to help. if not i wish you luck... i know it can be hard with picky eaters... layla is one! |

| That is my next option. I have asked myself that question each time he quits eating something. I also tried Canidae-chicken,lamb and fish and he seemed to like that. Hubby had fish from dinner that we brought home and he gave him some, Hot Rod couldn't eat it fast enough! I've asked my vet about homecooking and she gave me a name of a nutritionist. I will keep your offer in mind...I still have not ruled out homecooking. I actually have you listed as a contact because I saw that you homecooked. I'll try these foods for now but as I said, homecooking may be the next step. What types of things do you make? Example: Fish meals, Meat meals? Veggies? I know Hot Rod like fish-a LOT as well as veggies. Thanks.

If I am making her food up.. i've made... ground veal, ground hamburger (all the meats are extra lean) ground chikcen (until i found out she was allergic) ground lamb. Salmon, Halibut, White fish. If she is eating what we eat.. the possibilities are endless i'll just keep an extra piece of the meat to the side and feed it to her... occasionally i'll give her BBQ'd chicken (again.. she's alergic but boy does she love it) i'll just not season it and remove the part that touched the BBQ> she'l have baked salmon, canned tuna, any type of fish... for veggies i just buy a bunch of mixed (Carotts, cauliflower, peppers, broccoli..) and put them in the food processor,, but taht's because layla doesn't like veggies she also eats cottage cheese on occassion (She is lactose intolerant as well ) and loves egg.... scrambled or hard boiled. She also loves fruit.. apples especially hope that helped! feel free to pm me any time! | |

| Boy, your menus sound delicious. I'd be eating everything too! We thought that Hot Rod might be allergic to beef so we stop giving all things related. He was itching ever since we'd gotten him. Well, we've given him his bully stick back and the itching doesn't seem any worse. I mentioned to the vet about this and she said try it at this level and see if we could figure it out before spending money on allergy test. The next thing I want to try to take out of his diet is chicken...from what you are saying, it might something he is allergic too. The bad think is his innova dry food is chicken based. He did not like california natural food much. I'll have to watch taking chicken out of is diet for awhile. He does love his chicken also. Thank you so much for your input. I will definitely be in touch!
