| Help needed for homecooking For those who homecook have you had any problems with your babies not liking the texture of foods? I tried the Spot's stew with the food blended and he didn't like it, I tried it just soupy and he didn't like it. I tried ground chuck mixed with ground veggies and oatmeal made into patties and fried...he liked it. I just mixed up ground turkey, ground chuck, veggies, oatmeal and some millet and he walked a way from it. So I don't know if it is the turkey or the veggies not as ground in as last time or the texture as it isn't as firm as ground chuck alone. Any suggestions? Maybe he just isn't a poultry kinda guy. I wanted to try poultry because I have saw on here where a lot of babies are allergic to beef. How would I know if he was allergic to beef? Any ideas other than allergy testing? I just feel really confused, my Gizmo would eat anything so I never had these issues. Do you think I am creating the issues by feeding him different things? Hubby is old school and says just leave it out he will eat it when he gets hungry enough, but he does put up with me and laughs at me when I get upset because my baby isn't eating. Well now I am rambling so I will stop but if any one has any suggestions or ideas I am open to trying them. Thanks for listening.

| I really don't know what it could be. Homecooked food should not be left out for more than one hour. You could just put it in the fridge and keep pullilng it out and trying. I know I am in the minority but I think if a dog really doesn't like something, he/she shouldn't have to eat it (within reason...unless they are REALLY picky and don't like anything healthy). Itching is the major symptom of food allergies (ears and biting paws). Not all dogs are allergic to beef, so I wouldn't worry about it unless you see symptoms. You could also try lamb, fish, venison, egg... Just be careful how much fat and grease you are giving. I prefer not to fry foods because I think they just come out way too greasy (for Ellie at least).

| Thanks for your response. I have mixed the beef, veggies and oatmeal together and then fried it in a pattie. When it is done I drained any grease off on paper towels. I was worried that maybe the oatmeal soaked up grease because it was uncooked oats so this time I am cooking the oats first. At least my failures with Topper don't go to waste the big dog thinks they are all awesome!!

| i would try to stay away from frying it. I boil all of Layla's food. Try grating some cheese on top. That always works for Layla. |

| I am trying poaching it in beef broth and he seems to like that. You would think someone would make up a manuel for how to raise this little boogers...but then again they haven't come up with one for skin babies yet either!!LOL
