| Allergies..Need food advice Reese has severe allergies, both environmental and food. I found 2 so far that do not seem to contain any of her problem ingredients (orijen 6 fish and bravo frozen raw) I was trying to see if there were any others out there that i do not know of yet and figured this would be the place to get the best advice. She is allergic to the following: soy, barley, corn, eggs, poultry, oat and flax..so it is nearly impossible to find anything to give her..any help would be so appreciated!!

| I'm thinking that Taste of the Wild pacific stream formula doesn't have any of those ingredients. I know for sure it doens't have oat, flax,, poultry, corn or barley. Let me go see if i can find an ingridient list for it.

Thank you so much..i will definitely have to try it once i am done with this bag of food. i was also hoping for something not fish-based too, but i guess that is a stretch..she can have duck and venison, but all the foods i have found have other ingredients that she cant have!

Laura, How did you find out what she was allergic to? Did she go through allergy testing? I am concerned that Topper has allergies but I don't want to put him through the testing. I assume they test pets the same as humans with several needles...can you say phobia!!! Thanks

The blood allergy test, i am told by my vet, is pretty accurate as far as environmental allergies but can be off with the food. What I do know is, I am glad to have at least a list of things to avoid for now until they get under control. it's just hard to find a food that doesnt have at least one of those ingredients. chicken is a huge one..i figured it out long before the test, but the others i was surprised. so once i get her under total control i might introduce some things back and see what happens. another suggestion from the vet was allergy shots, but there is no proven effectiveness and its very expensive. hope this helps!!

| I didn't realize they had just a blood test that could identify allergies. I only knew of the skin prick test. I may have to consider that. Thanks.

| I took my Maxx who's 11 yrs old to a new vet a couple of weeks ago and had the hypersensitivity allergy test too. I should get the answers back in about 3 weeks. All this time, I've been dealing with shots and pills, steroids and my other vet said nothing else can be done. I'm glad I found this vet. Anyway, I bought Natures Recipe- it has no corn, wheat, eggs or meat- stuff like that and Maxx has been eating just that for about a month now and he is so much better. I got it at PetSmart. |

| oh wow, did your dog go through an allergy test? i had one few months ago and i thought that hurt, imagine a dog gettine one done. my mickey's been sick for a really long time puking all the time and every week i'd take him to the vet to figure out what's wrong with him (shortly after i bought him. imagine a 9 year old carrying a yorkie in her overall with her nanny walking to the vet) anyways, they found out he had food allergies (i don't know whether they told us to what or not can't remember that far back) and the vet put him on this food called d/d cept i don't remember the company's name. 'till this day (10 yrs later) we walk to the vet's office and ask for dd and they seem to know. this has helped mickey with his food allergies. though he still ocasional get sick after eating human food like beef. i would ask the vet what he/she recommend for your little one. best of luck in finding the right food for your little one |

| Sadly, allergy testing for food just doesn't work. You may get a lot of false positives and false negatives. The best way to figure out what your dog is allergic to is with an elimination diet. California Natural might have a good kibble for you.
