My sadie...13 weeks, is pooping small little turds. I think she may be constipated. She is on wellness canned food, so how can canned food constipate? But her poo is small (Smaller then it used to be) and it's in little peices instead of one long turd. (Sorry for the description) what do ya do when you WANT your baby to go more??? I have a vet appointment but I would like to hear if there is anything you all can tell me to feed her.

You can add a little oil to loosen things up a little.
Corn oil or mineral oil added to the food. About 1/4 tsp at a time until things come out they way they should.

I have had "poo" problems with Toto before. I always give her a little pumpkin ... canned with no spices. Also, I sometimes give her a little bit of minced pear ... she loves Asian pear!

High quality food=less poo. If she's straining when she goes, then I'd worry. A little canned pumpkin is good, I wouldn't use oil

I thought canned pumkin was for constipation!!!

She goes but I just can't help thinking more goes in then comes out. It's funny...most people want their puppies to poo less not more!!!!

When they have more poo it is because they are eating low quality food(lots of fillers) and their bodies are not absorbing it. And pumpkin is both for constipation and the runs.

I have read numerous places that it is better to feed a dog high quality dry food rather than canned food for numerous reasons. One of course is cleaner teeth with the dry food. Also, canned food can be up to 45% water or more. I have learned that with my puppies, unless its another health problem their poop is directly changed by the amound of food/water intake. Specifically, if they don't have enough water or too much water it makes the poop either dry or wet.

Reno has had this same problem before (pooping little pellets) and I home prepare his food. I started adding a little flax seed, (it's great for omega3 and fiber) and things are back to normal. You could also add a few cooked oats to her food and that should help.
