| Lapro Spay Has anyone had this done on their female? I have 2 Mini Schnauzer girls that I need to get spayed and I am looking for a vet that does this type of surgery near Atlanta Ga. It could be in Ala, Fl, SC, Tenn,NC, or Ky. I have found a place in Texas, but that is to far away. If you are not familiar with this, it is where they make a couple of 3/8 inch incisions, insert camera, lazer scapel, minimal tissue damage, fast healing.Vets have started doing this type because of less trama on the dog. Just like in people the technique is filtering down to the pet world. If yall know any vets in the South that do this, I'd appreciate the info. My daughter has a Yorkie and I know that Yorkie owners believe in taking care of their little ones, so I thought I'd ask over here. David |

| Hmmm, I am in Michigan so I don't know. Have you tried the univerities? I thought that quite a few vets were offering this now. To be honest, although this may be a better and less painful way of doing it, I think the old way is just fine. While it would be a bonus to get it done this way (maybe, haven't read tons about it), the first things I would be concerned with is if I trust my vet, they use the right anesthesia, preop bloodwork is done, pain meds are given and a heated surgery table is used.

| My female Yorkie had the laser surgery for spaying but I think you will find a vet much closer to you than TN. |

| Spay Thanks for the welcome!!! I love my daughter's Yorkie!!! She is the smartest dog we've ever had in our family> knows about 50 words. Tenn is close. My daughter's boyfriend is in the Vet program at University of Ga.I called there and while they do teach the procedure and give seminars on it, at this time they don't actually do it. They did it on a lion at Zoo Atlanta. The reason I wanted to do it this way is I have 2 of them(sisters) and they are like "joined at the hip" and play and wrestle pretty rough. I thought they will heal faster with the lapro spay I wanted them to be calm>er and rest at the same time and I could stay home with them from work while they recuperate. That way I can keep them separated or make sure they don't get out of hand .Janc Where in Tenn did you get it done and did it turn out ok? How long did the puppy take to recuperate. How much did it cost? Do you use that vet regularly? So far the only one I've found close is in SC. around five hours away. David |
