| Kennel Cough Vaccaine? Is the kennel cough vaccine a good idea for a pup that only sees other dogs once every 3 months at the groomers? I dont want to give it to them if its not helpful. |

| My puppy had the kennel cough vaccine and has had kennel cough twice! The doctor said the vaccine doesn't always keep them from getting it, just from getting a bad case. Even so, Archie had one case that took months to get rid of and a couple visits to an expensive respiratory specialist! (He was well, but couldn't shake the cough.) One of his kennel cough episodes came after he had spent an afternoon at the groomers. Sooo ... they can get kennel cough at the groomers. I have often felt "what good was the vaccine," but wonder if he may have even been sicker had he not had it. I don't think the vaccine itself hurts them, though.

| This is one of the only vaccines that I am comfortable with. Sissy got kennel cough shortly after she came to use (I think she got it from the intranasal live vaccine), so now we only get the actual injection (which is not live). If your pup is around other pups at all, or you take her out with you, this one can help prevent them from getting pneumonia and possibly dying.

| Both the monkeys have this vaccine because it's required for daycare. They have never had any problems with it and have never had kennel cough~ |

| my vet said that the kennel cough vaccine is like the flu shot.. you can get the shot.. and a month later STILL get the flu because there are different strands of the flu and the shot doesn't cover all of them. Layla has never had the shot but has had kennel cough. it was the worst thing ever but i'm still not sure i would give her the shot as she has very bad reactions to vaccines. |

| Ellie has never had the shot and never will. She has never had kennel cough and is six years old. Of course, she is rarely around other dogs. It is a tough call when they go to the groomers and dog parks. It is like the flu shot and I would never put that in my body.
